Breaking news!SONVA has undergone a change, as you can tell from the site layout. This weekend will bring the start of the third season with the current cast and crew. The actors and the dub are no longer "new" and quite safe with their jobs. So to reflect that change SONVA will now be known as SOCC (Support Our Cast and Crew) we are still the same group dedicated to supporting Pokémon USA in creating the highest quality dub of the Anime we all enjoy. With this new name and look comes the official SOCC forums. Be sure to tune in to classic episodes of Pokemon, which air weekdays at 7:00am, and 3:00pm EST. New (US) episodes air every Saturday starting at 9:30am EDT! Welcome to the Support Pokémon website. On December 23, 2005. 4Kids Entertainment (KDE), and Pokémon USA inc (PUI) released a press statement saying that on Dec 31, 2005. 4Kids worldwide licensing and merchandising rights to Pokémon franchise would expire, and Pokémon USA would take over. The press release stated that 4Kids would finish the dubbing of season 8 of the Anime series. On Wed March 8th, 2006, Eric Stuart left a ranting, and emotionally charged statement in his guestbook. In this post, he revealed that in April a special would premier, and that this special would not be produced by 4Kids, and would have an entirely new voice cast. And he claimed that Pokémon USA was "greedy" and implied that the new show would be "Cheaply done." He urged fans to write to the WB and to the fansites. Shortly there after, fans got in contact with Mr. Stuart, and other VAs to get confirmation, to which they all received the same message, "Pokémon USA is greedy, and the show is being recast with Cheap sound-alike's" This of course sent many of the fans into a frenzy, they formed a group strictly against the new dub, and only supporting 4Kids and the previous cast, cooler heads made the case of waiting until we actually heard the voices before jumping to rash conclusions, but to no avail, those that were fans of the previous VAs had made up their minds. The special premiered on April 29th, and was received with mixed reviews, the voices were rather unpolished, but even so made a decent show of potential. Of course, this was not seen by many at the time, and the fandom erupted into a flash frenzy once more. But there were many that liked the new voices, and almost everyone noted the all-Japanese soundtrack, and the slightly more mature, and unedited plot. Many started to realize the possibilities that were apparent with this new dub. Members of the previous cast and SOVA continued to spread ill will towards a dub that hadn't even aired yet. Writing off any logic, and ignoring the obvious talent of the new cast and crew. In September of 2006, the 9th season of the Pokémon anime made its debut, the voices had improved by a wide margin, some of the voices had even surpassed the quality of the previous actors. The writing and music arrangement was equal to that of 4Kids, a little better in some places. (They did use some Japanese pieces that 4Kids would not.) And the senseless editing was no more. (Which is a huge plus.) The new season opened to great ratings, and continues to flourish, as the actors grew more accustomed to the roles. SOVA continues to stir displeasure in the fandom through constant complaining, and bashing of the show and actors. Pokémon USA has been listening to, and responding to fans like 4Kids never had. And unfortunately SOVA has pushed for more negative feedback to be sent to Pokémon USA than anything. And if the feedback and ratings reflect to badly, they may just cancel the show. So, every fan of the new dub, every fan of Pokémon as a show. Don't let the voice of negativity be the only voice PUI hears, watch the show. Tell your friends. Write letters to Pokémon USA. Don't let our favorite show die! |
