About Son Songs

Son Songs are simple accompaniments intended for use in worship services. Each Son Song may find a use for more than one tune because there are (usually) no complete melodies in a Son Song itself. If the meter and harmony fit the melody you're singing, you're all set!

The keyboard part of a Son Song can be played by itself to accompany the singers, but you'll likely want to employ a lead singer to guide those who may be unfamiliar with the melody. If you have more instruments at your disposal, you can add some or all of the other parts provided for a fuller sound.

Why are Son Songs not numbered consecutively? Let's just say that the clever (WELS) musician will soon discover one scheme or another used in numbering Son Songs.

Son Songs are free as long as you properly credit the arranger and mention where you got the music from, so others can hopefully enjoy using them as well. No charges are assessed, but donations are gladly accepted.

Son Songs are composed using Finale music software. If you need software that can read such .MUS files, you can download the free version called Finale Reader.

Like the Son Song style but can't find one for your melody? Ask (using the address on the donations page) and it shall be given to you.
