Who we are
The Songwriters Workshop, founded in 2003, is a community of songwriters of varying interests, skills, and backgrounds. Please check the What's New page for info on the next workshop.
What we do
We present our original songs to the group for constructive review. We support each other by offering honest, constructive feedback on our songs. We share tips, lessons, and opinions on the elements of our songs, including lyrics, melody, structure, title, and hook, and we discuss the overall impact, feeling, and magic that the song conveys.
where we do it
We gather at Tsunami Books, 2585 Willamette St., Eugene, Oregon. Look for us gathered around the table near the back of the store. Don't be shy.
When we do it
We meet the second Saturday of nearly every month (usually skipping July and December). We start at 11:00 a.m. and stop by 1:00 p.m., unless we have lots of songs to present to each other.
What we charge
A buck. We had managed to keep the workshop "donation optional" from 2003 until 2007. Starting in August, 2007, we started asking for one dollar each (on average) as a contribution to the bookstore. If you don't have a buck, no worries. You're welcome to join us "on the house."
