The Aurix

The Rounds have been properly separated within Chapters 1 & 2, essentially completing them. And by essentially, I mean that I may return to change the names of all the species within each chapter to what they've been officially renamed to, to avoid confusion.

I will probably add all of Chapter 6 before I begin my work on separating the rounds of Chapter 3 and up, however, although rounds won't be officially figured out until then (the rounds got messed up I think when I considered talking-things at one point rounds, back in Chapter 2 I think it was). Until then, check out the forums!

...I wish I could opt to open links in new tabs instead of windows...bleh.


Also, the Spore FAQ section has been moved into the Aurum FAQ page, and now sports nine updated questions and one new one! All edited and new information on there has the FAQ # underlined. Spore FAQ page has been deleted to make way for Chapter 7's page.


In other news, I'll likely rehaul the Images section soon...so if there's anything you specifically want out of there, you should do so in earnest, as I'm not 100% sure what will be removed (although the spritesheets of Chapter 1 are the least likely things to be taken off). The new art is just far better.

The Species page is currently under some construction, but has been temporarily halted due to a birthday. The Crawler's sprites and some of its information has been added. More will come soon.

Good news to those who love to read - Rounds 1-10 are now in the new format, so check it out, and see how much easier it will be to read. Chapter 6 will continue to be posted in this style soon, as well, with the other chapters slowly being filled in in this style. Also worth noting, the Chapters now have "Chapter Statistics"...you'll see what I mean when you go there.

Species will probably have a few more sprites added soon, while Info still needs an overhaul.

Also, no offense to Freewebs, but they seem to be having non-stop trouble with their forum builder, so I may just have to go and make a forum for you avid readers somewhere else...I really think a forum could contribute nicely to the story as a whole, if only to have a permanent place to hold suggestions.

All species are undergoing a respecifying, as well -- in other words, the Aneucts Jellyfish will no longer a jellyfish and the Flash Shrimp will no longer be Mantis Shrimp, Corals are now Koryls and Kelps are (and have been for a while now) Vuukelps, et cetera. This is due to the fact that evolution took place here on Vuunega very differently than on Earth...or at least presumebly it did. For instance, arthropodic species evolved from worms, and non-spinocephalopodic slug-like species evolved from Ameboids. Skates and Rays have also evolved from worms, as opposed to a fish descendant. So bear with me on this...species types may change randomly and confusingly in information files. We'll see, but right now it's time for a siesta. Ole!

The Info page has been added to, with the addition being a rundown/synopsis list of our evolutions. This is complete in terms of what's included on the site so far, minus the "bonus" evolutions that occured during Chapters 1 & 2.

My Profile page has also been updated, to reflect the death of my mouse, Nimhowei. Eventually the "About Me" page will probably be absorbed into the Profile page...but not now. Not until at least Chapter 7. Sapience & Sentience will also be merged with the FAQ or Info pages around that time, while the Spore FAQ page will be merged with the FAQ page. Heck, I haven't even looked at the Sapience & Sentience or Spore FAQ page in ages...they're not exactly something capable of being updated...at least, not at the moment.

Also, the entire Info page requires a massive overhauling, to make it easier to read and far more cleanly. However, the update will come first (it's almost complete, trust me).

Please, if you have any questions for the FAQ, do feel free to ask. One question has been asked that will be added shortly...but I believe the UPDATE ITSELF is far more important, don't you?

UPDATE: Yes, I'm Robert Stack (may he rest in peace). Anyhow, Questions 12 & 13 on the FAQ have been updated, while the actual question asked for Question 15 has been added, although the answer is left blank for now. I have more pressing issues currently to follow up on.

Round 96, Kritognathus elektrovenator, has been added to Chapter 6.

And in case you're wondering, yes: Thursday is named after Thor. I was born on a Thursday. Ironic..? UNDOUBTEDLY NOT!!

Hello everyone! Today is my birthday!

Woohoo!

In case you haven't already noticed, I have updated the game again, although it took freaking forever to do so, I admit.
Also, I probably won't update this site tonight, but if I have time I will try -- however, I will definitely try to update the site sometime this week (preferrably tomorrow).

I assume you've all heard hopefully -- my external harddrive has been being dumb.

I'm going through a few processes to try to get it to read again so I can at the very least copy+paste the files I need off of it so that I can finish this accursed update.

In the meantime while I've been able to work on all this, I've been a member of Sagan 4 -- however, Hydromancer thinks I need to improve my skills, and the apparent 'rules' for that are a little above what I'm really capable of doing in a reasonable amount of time, so if that doesn't work for me, you probably won't see me on there much at all. Although I still do the SporeWiki hyperlinking.

However, that doesn't mean I don't think they deserve attention; so here's the page to the main site -- click on the link to the forums to view them, which is where all the fun happens.

I also heard Powerpoint is good for putting text around pictures for a book like I'm trying to make. Can anyone confirm this for me? I don't want to download something that won't help me.

The Species section has again been updated, with the following information:
  - The "Coral" from the Coral Reef has been given a name and its sprite has been added.
  - Both the Red and Green Kelp have been given names. Their sprites have been added, and their information has been reworded.
  - Kelp Crabs have been renamed to fit better with the new names of the Kelp species. Its information has also been slightly reworded.

More will hopefully be added later today.

I am adding in the Time Periods, to be found just above Racial Information in the Info Section of your obviously favorite site (mine, duh). This is still very much under construction, but you can see the few things in there right now. I'll edit this again once I put more work into it...assuming that's done today, of course.

Happy 1st Anniversary to the Aurix Game, everyone!!

Phew...hard to believe it was a year ago that I started this wonderful game with the words, "Only a few million years had past since the planet's devastating encounter with a comet, totally obliterating most life on the surface, including the Zomm, a race of sentient beings that had once held dominance upon the lush sphere. But, as with all things in nature, life began anew from the few remaining organisms that had survived the catastrophe. What was once barren expanses of desert had once again begun to return to the site of flora and fauna that once had inhabited every nook and cranny. Even so, however, the species were still few and far between."

Ahh, but what a wonderful year for the Aurix it has been! In this last 365.25 days, the Aurix have grown quite close to my heart. They will never be left behind, and who knows -- if I ever follow my cousin into video games, perhaps you'll see them in one! Of course, then I would probably have to give someone the copyright to them permanently, and...errm...not willing to do that, exactly.

As an anniversary "gift", I am allowing this round a special vote -- check out the update on GameFAQs to see what this vote is! This update, I must say, is an important one, and entails an important event in Aurixan history, as I've planned for quite some time.

I've been considering making a few things as merchandise for this game, but I dunno if it'd be "free merchandise", "pay-for merchandise", or what. Not even 100% sure how making stuff works, exactly, other than how to make shirts. Ideas that have crossed my head in the last year have been an Aurixan Fieldguide, a Shirt, and a coffee mug...maybe a pin? I don't know. There's only about 20 of you readers out there these days (that I know of), and I don't know if any of you really read these updates. If you do, you should make a comment or suggestion about this subject.

The shirts would probably be able to be made to-order, as the orderer's favorite creature from the game, or something. Mugs, not sure about. Pins should be really easy to make, I'd think. The Aurixan Fieldguide, currently possessing the working-title "World Reborn: A Fieldguide to the Flora & Fauna of ____" (where ____ equals the name of the planet), would probably include information and hopefully artwork for much more than is known in-game...possibly even talking about or revealing information on the mysterious Zomm.

The Gameplay section of the Info page was updated slightly.

More may be updated today, and if so, this little spot will be updated as well. However, this may turn out to be unlikely due in whole to needing to finish the update in time for tomorrow's posting.

Also, my lizard died. So that's distracting me a little bit. Poor thing.

The last update of the first year of the Aurix has been posted!

And with that, I have begun to work on the website here, like I should.

I'm currently working on the Species section, so if you're bored, you can watch me work. I am planning on also trying to add some sprites to that page when I'm through with it this time around; however, they will most likely be temporary versions (as in, they'll last for months or whatever, but hopefully get replaced later) as I don't have a program right now that I can make transparent gifs on. If any of you can, please help out with that, and I'll add you under the Very Special Thanks part of the website. I promise.

I also updated the Thanks section, by updating the active players list. Not a very big update there.

Next up should be Chapter 6, and then Info -- which is sickeningly in need of an update.

The above links also don't open a new window like most others happen to. I keep feeling like that's an annoying idea to have to you guys (and girls), so perhaps I will stop with it entirely. Again, as always, speak up if you don't want to see the change.

Good news, readers: Chapter 5 has finally been fully posted!!
And with that, Chapter 6 is getting posted, as well. The page to it is up, although nothing is in there...yet.

Unfortunately, I just discovered a misfortune: I can only create up to 20 pages without paying for this site; and I've reached that limit. That has meant that I will have to take down several of the pages in order to allow more info. I would really prefer not to delete pages if I don't have to, and that means that these pages will try to be merged into other pages. This is the list of pages that will be merged together:
 - Somarinoa's Trip section has been merged into the About Me section.
 - Somarinoa's Accident section has also been merged into the About Me section.
 - Sentience & Sapience section will eventually be merged into an currently-unknown section.

The Somarinoa's Trip section ended with only 116 hits, and Somarinoa's Accident with only 35 hits, but I will continue to keep them around, at least for a while.

I think I will also merge the Aurum FAQ and Spore FAQ pages as well.

Now here's the updated to-do list:
 - Rehaul the Physiology Page on SporeWiki (it hasn't been worked on in a long time...I actually forgot "physiology" wasn't the main page, so...yeah).
 - Rehaul the Info Page.
 - Rearrange the Order That Pages Appear in at the Top of the Site (Maybe).
 - Compile Sprites for the Species Page.
 - Create a secret section of the site! What will it hold? I'm unsure. It may either hold info on the things like the Zomm or perhaps just what I'm thinking of -- a spritesheet you guys can use. Heck, maybe both, I don't know. I'm not 100% certain of what will go in there...you guys should give me some hints or ideas.

I had some free time, so I chose to add a couple of more rounds of Chapter 5. It is now up to Round 90, out of 94.
I know what you're thinking: "Why not finish it up then?!"
First of all, good question. Second of all, why do that when I can try and finish the actual update for the new year?

With that being said, I shall return to that.
If I have time tonight, I shall finish up Chapter 5 and begin with Chapter 6. I don't know how many rounds Chapter 6 is up to, but it should be between 3-4, so I could probably finish up both in a short amount of time and get us all caught up.

Well, a few more rounds of Chapter 5 have been posted there, as to appease thee.

However, it kinda-sorta prevented me from finishing up the update so far (and will continue to if I continue to update the Chapter 5 page instead, as that's SLIGHTLY later in being done), so the update might not get posted until tomorrow or so. It's also very hard not to go play Twilight Princess. Dang I'm addicted to Zelda.

Also, if you don't notice immediately -- I added the Round numbers to the chapter 5 posts, and hopefully will continue that into the other chapters as well. Once chapter 5 has been fully posted, I fully plan on adding in chapter 6, as well. It's got a title to it, I believe...I just can't remember what it is.

I really want to get to post the old sprites up here too, but still haven't had the time to do that yet, due to the holidays, Zelda, helping out famous friends, and updating.


In other news, my cancer-ridden female friend in Minnesota seems clear of all that now, so that's good.

I will try to post more of Chapter 5 later on tonight, although I have to help out my famous friend once again here, and then maybe run a few more errands...but I will continue on it once I return...at which point, this will probably be re-edited to sound cooler.

Well -- this may be the very last update info posted before the upcoming new year...unless I get some of this work finished by then.

The Profile Page has received an overhaul, and now not only sports much more information (it's based off of the "About Me" section of my userpage on SporeWiki), but there's also info on my interests, favorites of various things, and a real live (but small to save on site space) picture of myself. So, you know. ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! or whatever.

I just realized that I never posted the rest of Chapter 5 -- boy, is there egg on my face. Oi. Anyhow, I'll get to work on that shortly. After that, I'll continue it by posting what is currently around of Chapter 6; you know, try to get us all up-to-date and stuff.

If nothing else gets in the way, I'll then try to update the Aurum SporeWiki page (found in the Links section). After that? I'll post rudimentary forms of the known creature sprites...and by rudimentary, I mean, they won't get to have transparent backgrounds...still can't find that GIF maker disc I need for that. If anyone can do that for me, get ahold of me via MSN. I think my MSN name is located somewhere on this here site...if not, use the Shoutbox to notify me about it. We'll set something up.

If you would like to make some fanart for this site, I would love to see it. Not sure if I can make multiple images sections and have different pictures per each one, so dunno if a Fanpage will work well or not -- we'll see. May just end up editing some of the images already in the images to make room for it -- or, the art or whatever the fan-stuff may be may end up on the SporeWiki page or something. Not sure. We'll see.

Also, you people should tell me if you think the links opening new windows is annoying or not. I'd set up a poll...but I don't think I know how. Oh well. Message me on the Shoutbox about if you like that concept or not. If majority hates it, I guess I'll have to try and change that, too.

I finally started posting crud in my Deviantart account, after about 3 years or so. Not much is in there yet, but it's got two of my better MSPaint drawings in there currently, and probably more stuff being added soon. Warning, though - one of the two contains "Mature Content", so, yeah. Namely, softcore nudity. What can I say. Don't worry, it wasn't exactly intended to be hentai, it just sorta came out as a nude is all...anyways...

The Thanks page was updated, and now contains a section at the top of the page for those who have voted this round (currently, it's really small, but it will hopefully grow in size, and will be revamped every chapter).

The Images page has also been rehauled, and has been capped off (in other words, I can't add another picture in there until I upgrade, which I would need a larger number of fans before I'd consider attempting).

The creature sprites have yet to be added, but I've not forgotten them. I'll also check to see if Chapter 5 still needs to be posted fully, as well as add in the single round of Chapter 6.

In case you're wondering, yes. My last few months have been very horrible for me and those I know. I'm certain it sounds like a lie by now with how often something bad has happened, but I assure you it is not. As of yesterday, another bad thing happened -- another friend died, this time of an accidental overdose on sleeping medications. Yes, I saw his body. Yes, it was unsettling. Here's a list of all the things that's gone on these last few months, which involve me or people I know in real life, cascading from least bad to worst -- I really didn't feel like adding a new page for this one.

2 people lost their jobs (only one is sad about it)
1 person had to be around a...very bad person on an important day (I can't go into more detail than that)
1 person was homeless in New York for 2 weeks
1 person has gotten a brain tumor
1 person has gotten cancer (this is the person I went to the marraige of a few months back, too)
4 people have died (2 friends, 1 of my mom's friends that I knew well, and my mother's aunt)

As for other bad things that have happened this year, I've gone through a few more deaths as well as my car wreck. Needless to say, this hasn't been a good year for me. But I thought I'd let you all know, so you can know exactly what's been going on, and I wanted to let you know in case I'm taking too much time updating, because, well...you guys all rock.

Getting a little close to the end of the year, and even closer to the end of this chapter.
With that randomly being stated -- I have a question for you all I've had tumbling around in my mind for a few weeks or even a month, maybe, and that is:

Would you guys want me to add the sprites showing what every creature looks like in the Species page? I can't make animated gifs with an invisible background right now (as far as I know, at least), but I could try, and they don't necessarily have to be animated obviously, either. Would you guys want me to do that, or should I not waste my time and effort on such an endeavour? You can get back to me on the Shoutbox, if you'd like. Or e-mail me...or whatever. My e-mail's located in the FAQ page, if not anywhere else.
Anyone else annoyed that it's making my Enter button key presses put such a large gap between paragraphs...? Ugh. (actually, hopefully I just fixed it.)

Ok. Well, the Aurix-related FAQs has been updated. Also, a few more rounds have been posted from Chapter 5 for you all, although I need to sleep so I had to stop, so you're still about 5 rounds behind...I'll make sure to post it soon as I have time, though. I also want to overhaul the images page, but that may take some time to do.

The info page also needs a horrendous overhaul, obviously, so I'll try doing that here soon as well.

I'd love to add little animated sprite gifs for you guys in the Species page and stuff, but dunno how that'd work with my whole "only got a certain amount of megabytes for your page there, sir and/or madam".

By the way, anyone have anything they would love to see on the site? There have been some suggestions about some things, including the backstory behind the Zrrmzasha (which some folks have expressed interest in).

If you have a suggestion, or even another FAQ question for me, please feel free to ask. You can either email me (my email's in my "About The Author" page, I think) or just do the simple way and post it on the Shoutbox. Although the messages disappear eventually, I've yet to miss one as far as I know.

...Also, a little bit off topic (kinda), but I've been trying to think of a vanity plate for my car for about a year...Zombie up here is taken (I'm a pretty decently big zombie movie fan), and names from Megaman such as Iceman and Cutman just sound like a hitman and a...barber...? So those are undoable...anyhow, been thinking, "Hmm...what about....Aurix? THAT isn't taken!!"

...I also think I've figured out how to make links that are actually words rather than the address itself. As usual, I made the links open in new windows so you can more easily (hopefully) browse the pages.

I know I'm pretty late, but want to say goodbye to both Steve Irwin and Tony Jay, as well as the PLANET Pluto.

Irwin, you were a great man, and I believe (although I know many people would disagree with me) that you have done a lot for the animal preservation societies of the world. Rest well, mate.

Jay, you were one of the best voice actors around. I respected your work, and you will be sorely missed from the Legacy of Kain series. I don't know how it will fair without you, bud.

Pluto, you'll always be a planet in my eyes. Don't let those idiot astronomists get you down, pal.

Also added a new page that goes to my user profile, just cuz. I kept my "About Me" page, however.

A lot of things have been updated over the past few days, namely in the Info page, as well as a bit more of Chapter 1 and Chapter 4. Two new pages have been added, although content has yet to be added to them (although content will be added very shortly, perhaps even today). Also, see anything different? That's right! I added a shoutbox to the top of the homepage here. Feel free to use it (that's what it's there for..!) More updating is to come.

I have updated many things, most of which were mentioned in the last update post, but I have also added a new FAQ question, and a list of various types of creatures known to exist on our planet, which is listed in the Info section, so feel free to check that out. It isn't finished yet, and more specie types will be added at a later date.

Yep, I'm, you know...back. Truthfully, I kind of miss Minnesota/Wisconsin (and my friends down there), but...little can be done about that now.
I'll post a picture of the New Couple here, I suppose, and it will probably be located in the Somarinoa's Trip section of the site.
We just finished Chapter 3 of the Aurix story, so I will be posting the entirety of it here soon, and I'll also try to post more about my entire trip.
I want to make an "Adopt a Spore Creature!" portion of the site, with various preferrably-chibi versions of several people's Spore Creatures...but I dunno what they'd think about that, or anything.
I also will have to update the info page, as the Aurix are no longer parasitic eels, and are now Bipuses (they're like Octopuses, but with two tentacles and a calcium skeletal structure).

I updated the Racial Information in the Info Page, as well as a little bit more of Chapter 3.

I should inform everyone that I will be on vacation in Minnesota for approximately 2 weeks for a wedding of a good friend. I will be leaving either this Tuesday or Wednesday (May 23 or 24). I would appreciate it if people would bump the Aurix, Part 3 game on GameFaqs at least once a day, to prevent it from disappearing (although, thanks to this companion site, I could always easily retrieve it...but that's hassle we don't need, methinks).

I will try to get online while I'm away, but it is probably not very likely to happen. I hope you guys can live without updates for a while hehe...

Hey gang. I just finished up placing Chapter 2 in its rightful place, and started Chapter 3. A few new pictures are located in the Images section of the site, as well. The link to the Game itself has also been updated. Plus there is finally an image in the About Me page...oh yes I am quite the ravishing fellow, let me tell you. Chapter 1 is still under construction, however.
