Solstice Rats

About Us

We are a small Midlands based rattery operating between two homes. We do this to help keep our numbers down so that we can give each rat more of our time and attention. Together we have over 12 years rat keeping experience and are active members of several online rat forums.

We are members of the MRC, YRC and the NFRS and try to get as many local shows as possible, often further afield if we are feeling adventurous!

 We breed for Topaz and Agouti with related colours popping up. We are also working on marked rats in Roan, Essex and Baldie. Our breeding plans often include Dumbos and Rex. 

We are being supported and advised by Alison Campbell of Shunamite Stud and Sue Lewis of Camelot Rats. We thank them for their invaluable help without which we wouldn't be where we are today. Plus thanks to Anna Gordon of Matrix Rattery for her part in getting us started. We also want to give a big thank you to Ed and Deb of New World Stud for helping us get our roan line off the ground.

Ethics

All our rats are treated as part of the family kept in there own rooms, one a converted bedroom the other a downstairs extension. We change our cage layouts regularly to keep the rats entertained. They have daily free range time and interact with all members of our families. Our rats live in large same sex colonies in spacious aviary style cages.

Our does will never have more than two litters, mostly just one. We will always breed for health and temprement first, if we get show quality rats along the way this is a bonus. Its a priority for us that all the rats that leave our homes will make wonderful pets first and foremost. We will never cull for any reason. Any kittens that are not adopted will stay with us and live as part of the family.
