Soldiers' Angels Veterans Support

"None Forgotten"

Soldiers' Angels

Soldiers' Angels was started by a self-described ordinary mother of an ordinary young man turned hero, Sgt. Brandon Varn. Brandon was deployed in Iraq and has since honorably completed his mission and has returned back to his proud and loving family.

In the summer of 2003, he wrote home expressing his concern that some soldiers did not receive any mail or support from home. Being a caring and loving mother, she decided not to allow a situation like that to continue. She contacted a few friends and extended family to ask if they would write to a soldier or two. Within a few short months, Soldiers' Angels went from a mother writing a few extra letters to an Internet Community with thousands of angels worldwide.

With more and more merchants donating services, money and items for packages, the Angels reorganized as a 501 c 3 non-profit so all donations would be tax deductible. Soldiers' Angels currently supports tens of thousands of American Service Members stationed wherever we raise our nation's flag, and that number continues to grow daily. Soldiers' Angels are dedicated in supporting our military during and after their deployment.

VETERANS' SUPPORT TEAM MISSION:

Our Mission:  The mission of the Veterans Support Team is to insure that NO Veteran is Forgotten or in need of items that would make his or her life better on a daily basis!!!

We Need Your Help To Keep Supporting Our Veterans

We are in need of help to be able to keep supporting our Veterans and VA Hospitals.  Donations to Soldiers Angels Veterans Support Team are a necessary part of being able to carry out our mission of 'NONE FORGOTTEN".  We strive daily to make sure that our Veterans have the supplies they need to get better.  Please help us by making a donation to our Team.

Veterans Support Team

Early last year a huge story broke about Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C..   When our Founder Patti Patton-Bader heard the news of how our wounded were being treated at this hospital she immediately wanted to know what Soldiers' Angels could do to help.  The Veterans Support Team was formed.  We have grown a great deal over the last year and have had quite a few accomplishments along the way.

The Soldiers’ Angels Veteran Support team is proactive in reaching out to all VA Volunteer Service Directors and work to develop a positive relationship to better serve our veteran’s.

The VA Team developed the VetPack, found in our Angel Store (
Click here to see VetPack at Angel Store), to send to the VA’s to assist the veterans at the VA facility as well as the homeless veterans in the Homeless Veterans program.

The VA Team volunteers their time to work the Stand Downs and help raise funds for the most needed items. Stand Downs reach out to homeless veterans to provide much needed medical services, benefits information, clothes, food and a warm shower.

The VA Team works within their communities to obtain much needed funds and items that might be listed on each VA’s wish list.

The VA Team volunteer at the VA’s to help with events that the VA sponsors to bring a little light to veterans at their facility.

The VA Team sponsors events for the VA in fund raising efforts to assist the VA’s to obtain comfort items and other large items that they may not be able to obtain otherwise.

The VA Team reaches out to individual veterans in times of trouble, help them in anyway we can and offer our support to help them through
troubled times.

The VA Team attends meeting at the VA’s to stay informed of the needs of the facility. We are now a nationally recognized VSO!! (Veteran Service Organization)

VA Healthcare System statistics:

·        The VA includes 155 medical centers, with at least one in each state, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia.

·        The VA operates more than 1,400 sites of care, including 872 ambulatory care and community based outpatient clinics, 135 nursing homes, 45 residential rehabilitation treatment programs, 209 Veterans Centers and 108 comprehensive home-care programs.

·        The VA has experienced unprecedented growth in the medical system workload over the past few years. The number of patients treated increased by 29 percent from 4.2 million in 2001 to nearly 5.5 million in 2006.

·        The VA health care system had nearly 7.9 million veterans enrolled as of October 2006.

·        The VA provides health care and benefits to more than 100,000 homeless veterans each year. The VA actively engages veterans in outreach, medical care, benefits assistance and transitional housing.

The above is why the VA Team is important.  We as a Country need to take care of those who unselfishly offered up their lives to fight for the freedoms so many of us take for granted on a daily basis.
