Pageant Rules
Only the pageant contestant (and one parent for ages 0 – 4) will be admitted free of charge – everyone else MUST pay an admission price of $8.00. Contestants may pre-register by sending a completed application and entry fee to:

Deadline to pre-register (submitting both the application and the entry fee) is Friday, July 24th, 2009. Anyone entering / paying after this date will pay a $10 late fee. Registration is allowed at the door; however, ALL contestants must be signed in and registered at least 30 minutes prior to the anticipated start time of their pageant. All start times listed are approximate. Dress for each pageant is at your discretion unless otherwise noted under that particular age category. Five separate optional categories are also available. Information on each of these separate contests is located at the top of the application page.
GIRLS PAGEANTS BOYS PAGEANTS

LITTLE MISTER & MISS Entry Fee: $60 per couple Pageant will begin at 4:00 pm.
Contestant Coupless MUST have reached their 5th birthday by June 30th and cannot have reached their 8th birthday by July 1st, 2009! Contestants will be judged as a couple on how they perform together. Contestants will be responsible for getting another contestant to compete with them. Any contestant who has previously won the State Pageant or has competed on a professional level (for monetary gain) is ineligible. Contestants will wear and be judged in age-appropriate attire. Couples will be asked questions while on stage as a part of the judging score. Judging will also be based on their poise, personality, beauty, and attire. The winning couple will each receive $100 cash, a trophy, crown, sash, entry fee paid, and one night lodging to compete at the Kentucky State Fair in Louisville on August 20th, 2009.
MISS PRE-TEEN Entry Fee: $35 Pageant will begin at 5:00 pm
Contestants must have reached her 8th birthday by July 1 and cannot have reached her 13th birthday by November 1st, 2009! The contestant must be a full-time student in an accredited Kentucky school system. A contestant can only represent one fair and must represent the first fair that she wins that year. Contestants will wear and be judged in age–appropriate, long eveningwear. Judging will be based on their poise, personality, general appearance, beauty, stage presentation, and attire. Finalists will be asked questions while on stage as a part of the final judging. The winner will represent the SOKY Fair at the Miss Pre-Teen Kentucky County Fair Pageant in Louisville on October 16th & 17th, 2009. She will receive a trophy, crown, sash, roses, a crown pin, and $150 cash. Her entry fee and two nights of lodging for the State Pageant will also be paid. Awards will also be given for the first runner-up and second runner-up.
MISS TEEN SOKY FAIR Entry fee: $40 Pageant will begin at 6:00 pm
Contestants MUST have reached her 13th birthday by October 31st and cannot have reached her 16th birthday by Novmber 1st, 2009. Contestants must be single, never married, never had a marriage annulled, and never had any children. Contestants must be a full time student in an accredited Kentucky School System. Contestants will wear and be judged in age-appropriate, long eveningwear during the pageant. Judging will be based on poise, personality, general appearance, beauty, stage presentation, and attire. Finalists will be asked questions while on stage as a part of the final judging. The winner will represent the SOKY Fair at the Miss Teen Kentucky County Fair Pageant in Louisville on October 16th & 17th, 2009. She will receive a silver tray, crown, sash, roses, a crown pin, and $250 cash. Her entry fee and two nights of lodging for the State Pageant will also be paid. Awards will also be given to the first runner-up and second runner-up.
MS. SOUTHERN KENTUCKY FAIR Entry Fee: $25 Pageant will begin at 6:45 pm.
This pageant is open to single contestants ages 22 – 29. Contestants will appear in eveningwear during the pageant. Judging will be based on poise, personality, posture, beauty, general appearance, stage presentation, and attire. The winner will receive a silver tray, crown, sash, roses, a crown pin, and a $50 cash award. Awards will also be given to the first runner-up and second runner-up.
MISS SOUTHERN KENTUCKY FAIR Entry Fee: $50 Pageant will begin at 7:00 pm
Contestants MUST have reached her 16th birthday by October 31st and cannot have reached her 22nd birthday by November 1st, 2009. Contestants must be single, never married, never had a marriage annulled, and never had any children. Contestants must be a resident of Kentucky or enrolled in a Kentucky College/University. A contestant can only represent one fair and must represent the first fair she wins. Contestants will appear in a one-piece swimsuit with shoes and eveningwear during the pageant. Judging will be based on physical fitness, poise, personality, posture, beauty, general appearance, stage presentation, and attire. Finalists will be asked questions while on stage as a part of the final judging. The winner will compete at the Miss Kentucky County Fair Pageant in Louisville on January 8th & 9th, 2010. She will receive a silver tray, crown, sash, roses, a crown pin, and $350 cash. Her entry fee and two nights of lodging for the State Pageant will also be paid. She will also accompany the Little Mister & Miss Couple at their pageant on Opening Day of the Kentucky State Fair in Louisville on August 20th, 2009. She will receive $50 to offset her expenses on this day as well. The winner will be expected to participate in fair activities the remainder of the week as well as local parades and charity events throughout the year. Awards will also be given to Miss Congeniality and first through fourth runners-up.
MRS. SOUTHERN KENTUCKY FAIR Entry Fee: $40 Pageant will begin at 7:30 pm
This pageant is open to contestants ages 18 & up. Contestants must be married and a permanent resident of the State of Kentucky for at least 6 months. They will appear in eveningwear only during the pageant. Judging will be based on poise, personality, posture, beauty, general appearance, stage presentation, and attire. Finalists will be asked questions while on stage as a part of the final judging. The winner will receive a silver tray, crown, sash, roses, a crown pin, and a $100 cash award. She will also have the opportunity to compete in the Mrs. Kentucky America Pageant in 2010. The Fair Board will pay the winner’s entry fee for this pageant but the winner is responsible for her application fee, ticket sales, ad sales, production outfit, and hotel. Awards will also be given to the first runner-up and second runner-up.
Note: This pageant will be held during the intermission portion of the Miss Pageant, allowing those contestants ample time to change from swimwear into eveningwear.
NOTE: Some of the State Preliminary Winners’ Awards will be kept in custody of the Fair Board and awarded upon completion of all obligations, including participation in the State Level of competition.
All contestants that are entering one of the state preliminary pageants must be prepared to show a copy of their birth certificate or a driver’s license for age verification purposes if requested.
The Southern Kentucky Fair cannot be held responsible for accidents, injury, or loss of personal property relating to these events. The judges’ decisions are final and NO score sheets will be given out. Any unsportsmanlike conduct or behavior exhibited by a contestant and/or any of his/her family members will result in disqualification of the contestant. Any announcements made at the event supersede any previously made written or oral statements.
