A True Man of God

(For John Hendricks)

I made a solid decision one day

That's when our Father showed me the way

He showed me a man with a commitment so strong

A man blessed and guided to help us along

He helps with our walk with God at the top

He’s tireless and relentless, he just doesn’t stop

God blesses him mightily with words that do heal

He shows us God’s love with excitement and zeal

With a ministry of giving, and God’s Word to tell

With honesty and strength he teaches it so well.

He teaches the integrity and truth of the Word

Some things are new to us, some things we've heard

Helping us remember how special life can be

God’s Word at the center helps us to see

The abundance God tells us he wants for our life

Amidst all the obstacles, challenges and strife

He lovingly guides us to learn it so clear

To have goals that are Godly, to let go of fear

To let the world be, and seek what’s above

To focus on goodness and giving God’s love

He’s gifted and giving and fights the good fight

His great sense of humor just keeps thing so light

He shares his experience so generously

He shows us how easy living God’s Word can be

He can be tender, but he can be tough

The way that he sees it, there’s never enough

The world is so cold, so heartless, so wrong.

But John teaches us how with God to be strong

He teaches God’s grace and to live with full joy

And “how to” with God’s Word, our old man destroy

His goals are so Godly, his motives so clear

Speaking it loud enough for all to hear

With faithfulness, tolerance and so much to share.

He teaches what’s important, and how to get there

I thank you John Hendricks and I thank God above

For your strength and your stand and a heart full of love.
