Soap Me Down, Mutha!

Calais to Prague in a 50 quid Saab

The Car

We have a motor! On Friday 8th, Rupe Doggy purchased an F-Reg Saab 9000 CD for a mere £50. It has an MOT until the end of September and tax until the end of October. It started first time and despite the fact that the front brakes are a bit dodgy, it's ours and it's paid for.

The Saab has 140,000 miles on the clock, loads of space inside , comfy seats and the cassette player works. It's got no electrics to speak of to go wrong and has had a lot of work done on it recently - new brake calipers, lots of head work, new exhaust sections, new CV gaitors, new clutch master and slave cylinders, new clutch, new rear pads and lots more in the last 30k miles.

We might need a new aerial for the radio, and even though the tyres are all legal, the front ones don't have too much tread left.

The coolant needs a good top up with proper stuff, but the hoses all look serviceable not perished at all, but if we can get new ones then it's worth doing just in case.

So basically get the new front discs and pads, and new fluid, give it a good service (oil, oil filter, air filter, flush and replace coolant, and maybe as a precaution distributor cap and rotor arm, plugs, and cabin filter, hoses) and we're done.

Check out the latest pictures of the car in the photo album.
