About Me

My name is Shannon and I am 13. I am now an individual dogsledder. I no longer work for Hal or Mary And I am hoping that my Grandma will get a puppy so that I can race again, because currently, my only dog is Gallant. I only weigh about ninty pounds, so two dogs could pull me pretty fast! My uncle is going to breed his husky soon so I will have a team!

The Sad Part

Gallant and Nikki are both rescue dogs. We found Gallant in the Kalkaska Animal Shelter, a person there talked Mary into getting him and she gave him to me. I'll have the whole story under, "The Special Siberian". I don't know all of Nikki's story, but I do know this, my friend Danielle's ( who also has a site under "Rainbow Bridge Kennels") mom worked at an animal shelter and there was a dog there that would be put to sleep the next day.  She was beautiful, but very skinny.  So Danielle's mom drove her home one day after work. They called Hal and asked if he could take her, (they currently had no room in their kennel) he agreed and they brought her to his house and gave her to him.

DOGS IN SHELTERS ARE CAUSED BY OVERBREEDING, PLEASE HAVE YOUR PET SPAYED OR NEAUTERED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have nothing against breeding if you want the puppies to sell or to keep as your own.

The Special Siberian

I was always bored and I wanted a dog. I asked my mom every time we passed by the animal shelter, she always said, "No, Brendan is allergic, and you know it!" Brendan is my little brother, and most of the time I can't stand him! Anyways, I wished for a dog on every dandelion I found. One day, my wish came true. I was going to work, (I work at Hal's kennel) and his wife Mary stopped me while I was getting the dog food, "Hi Shannon," she said, "look at this dog."

Was it what I thought and hoped? Was she offering me a dog? No, it couldn't be, could it? "Oh My God!" I yelped, "He is beautiful!" His name is Gallant, he is a purebred Siberian Husky.

"You can have him, but on one condition," she replied, "He has to live here at the kennel ." Then she wondered aloud, "Will you or won't you?"

"Yes I will." I said with tears of joy in my eyes. Answering a question seriously for once in my life. "Yes I will." I repeated, "Yes I will."

Now we are best friends. He is the lead dog on my dogsled team. That shows you how much I trust him, Because not every dog can be a lead dog, some dogs can't even pull a sled. I'm very proud of him. He is my Special Siberian!
