HERE AT SNM, WE ALSO PROVIDE FREE EDITING FOR AUTHORS WHOSE STORIES WE FEATURE TO MAKE THEM AS PROFESSIONAL AS POSSIBLE WHEN SUBMITTING FOR ANY FUTURE PUBLICATION TO OTHERS. YOU MAY TAKE OUR SUGGESTIONS THAT WE PROVIDE FREE TO MAKE THE STORY MORE MARKETABLE, OR KEEP THE ORIGINAL VERSION YOU HAD PRIOR TO SUBMITTING. ITS DONE AS A COURTESY. WE HAVE AN EXPERIENCED TEAM OF PROFESSIONAL EDITORS WORKING HARD. THERE'S NOTHING LIKE FREE ADVICE WHICH CAN BENEFIT YOUR WRITING. CURRENTLY, WE CANNOT PAY ALL OF OUR CONTRIBUTORS IN CASH AS WE ARE STILL A NON-PROFIT E-MAGAZINE. USUALLY MAGAZINES GET PAID THROUGH THEIR SPONSORS WITH ADVERTISEMENTS. WE DON'T HAVE PAYING SPONSORS AS WE ARE STILL NEW. WE SPONSOR BI-MONTHLY PAYING CONTESTS FOR THE STORIES OF THE MONTH AND WILL BE PUBLISHING ANOTHER ROYALTY PAYING PAPERBACK PUBLICATION FOR CONTRIBUTORS. WE ARE FREE TO THE PUBLIC. WE DO NOT RECEIVE ANY ROYALTIES FROM OUR SUBSCRIBERS. BESIDES, GETTING YOUR STORY READ AND EXPOSED IS REALLY THE WHOLE POINT INITIALLY. FREE PROMOTION NEVER HURT ANYONE AND AUTHORS CAN STILL GET BOOK SALES. WE'RE DOING THIS FOR OUR LOVE OF HORROR FICTION, AND FOR YOU GUYS. YOU WILL NOT FIND A MORE DEDICATED TEAM GIVING FREELY OF THEIR SOULS.

No racial or religious slurs, no explicit rape, no excessive violence or vulgarity, no blatant animal or child abuse. We are not accepting fan-fiction, Sci-Fi, fantasy or mystery, thriller or detective stuff, just well written horror stories! Reprints must have rights reverted back to the writer and stories must be over ONE YEAR from its last publication. 

You do not need a cover letter and we will ask you for promo material upon publication. Just get in solely on the merits of your writing and send us your best unpublished works! We are looking for original, new voices and are open to all realms of horror, especially if it is well-written. We do prefer cerebral, suggestive horror over blood, splatter and gore. We may need to edit it to fit the size and format of the mag and will correct misspellings, punctuation, grammar, or obvious mistakes and send it back for your approval. We are looking for rated R type of horror with a good plot, characters, dimension and a wicked twist surprise ending! As long as it's not purely self-indulgent blood depravities. We will let you know either way if we will publish your story. Please allow 4 weeks for a response before sending your queries. We do accept submissions all year round but review 40 days out. Here is the criteria for submissions: 

Word Count: 2,000-5,000 per story. Single line spacing.

14 type, justified setting and one space after the periods.

All the rest: use whatever font or style you normally use!

Standard name, address, e-mail and word count of story.

We've been receiving many submissions from overseas writers and welcome and embrace them in our publication for variety. However please note that we maintain an 85% American based audience that are partial to American spellings. Please do not take offense to us editing it to such, like favourite to favorite and toning down the Briticisms, especially slang, as we want US readers to relate to it on their terms without being distracted. Also, replace culture specific words like 'nappies' to 'diapers'. **NOTE: We do not publish in any language other than English.

Welcome to the August Hotter Than Hell issue of SNM! *New and previously published SNM authors may submit. For August's theme issue, we're looking for horror stories containing Satan, demons, Satanic cults & visions of Hell. Supernatural, realistic and scary stories is our preference. We have one opening available for a horror humor theme. Exorcisms will be an upcoming theme of ours in October. Stories must contain some Hellish element to be featured for publication in SNM Horror Mag or the BBB anthology. See regular submission guidelines above for more details. *Reprints are okay this issue if publication is over a year.          

1st Place = $30.00 + a spot in the anthology. 

2nd Place = $20.00 + September author interview.

3rd Place =  $10.00 + top 3 billing on homepage.

Any author interviews book/story reviews originally featured in SNM Horror Magazine may not be posted on other magazine venues without our prior permission. However the authors may post book reviews or interviews and self-promote themselves on Myspace or their own website without written permission...
