***TENNESSEE exports its pedophile priest to Arkansas --press conference 10-17

Excerpt from the Official Catholic Directory of 1965.  The diocese of Nashville, Tennessee, does not dispute that Paul Haas is a known sexual predator who abused teen boys.  Did they pass Haas, a pedophile, on to Arkansas?  It sure looks like it!  Click here to down load the entire page from the directory - PDF format.

WHO:

Several clergy sex abuse victims and their supporters including a victim of the Little Rock priest, who are members of a support group called SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP network.org)

WHY:

Roughly fifteen Catholic bishops in the US have voluntarily disclosed the identities of proven, admitted, and credibly accused predator priests on their websites or in their diocesan newspapers. To protect the vulnerable and heal the wounded, SNAP wants Little Rock church officials to do likewise.

One such molester was Nashville priest Father Paul Haas, who was sent to Little Rock to teach at Catholic High School for Boys in the mid 1960s.

Assignment record of Haas:   http://www.rememberthesurvivors.com/servicehaaspaul.htm

One of Haas's victims will speak out to ask other victims to come forward.  This victim was abused by Haas while a student at Father Ryan High School in Nashville.  Later Haas was also assigned in Memphis and later to Little Rock for one year according to public records.  Even though Paul Haas is deceased his victims continue to struggle with the effects of his abuse across several states.

A story of Haas abuse.  http://www.rememberthesurvivors.com/haasrapeoffaithbrown.htm

Do the people of Little Rock know that in addition to their own abusive priests, perpetrators from other dioceses were secreted here?  Where are Little Rocks perpetrators? Are they hidden here or elsewhere?   Ask the diocese where all molesters are located so that children will be safe.  Ask why the diocese of Nashville inflicted this perpetrator on Little Rock and never told the people.

SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, is the nation’s largest and oldest support group for men and women who were molested by religious figures of any denomination. (SNAPnetwork.org)

Letter of Diocese Administrator, Msgr. Gaston Hebert

Letter to the administrator of the diocese of Little Rock

SNAP of Arkansas
Little Rock, Arkansas

October 17, 2007

Msgr. J. Gaston Hebert
Diocesan Administrator
2500 N. Tyler St.
P.O. Box 7565
Little Rock, AR 72217

Dear Msgr. Hebert:

As I am sure you are aware, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests has initiated its first official chapter in Arkansas.  We are providing hope and encouragement to the many victims of clergy sexual abuse in Arkansas.

Since power over information rests largely on your shoulders, we are asking the following information for the well-being of victims and for the protection of children, teens, and vulnerable adults in Arkansas.

  • Release of the names of all the offending clergy who have been assigned in the diocese of Little Rock.  These would include priests from other dioceses who have been given safe haven in your diocese, hidden from the law, and given freedom to abuse again.
  • Release of the names of the clergy who have been reassigned to other dioceses when suspicions of abuse arose against them where they have been given freedom to continue to abuse.
  • Release of the status of these molesting clergy:  Accused? Convicted? Imprisoned? Laicized? Still in ministry?  Moved to other dioceses? Moved out of the country? Living in our neighborhoods unidentified?
  • Release of the names of all of the parishes and hospitals where they have been assigned.
  • Release of the names of all of the schools where they have taught.
  • Publication of this information in all church bulletins across Arkansas.
  • Publication of this information on the diocesan website.
  • Publication of this information in local media, both print and electronic.
  • Visitation by you to all parishes where molesting priests have been assigned to issue apologies for crimes committed by the church in the person of molesting priests.

We sincerely hope that you will agree with us that this is the minimum the church should do to make amends for abuse of the innocent children, teens, and vulnerable adults in its care.

We look forward to your reply.

Sincerely,

Ann Brentwood, Southeast Director of SNAP, 3142 Harrington Court, Maryville, TN  37803

Harold Luneau, Arkansas Director of SNAP, 9913 Echo Valley Court, Little Rock, AR 72227
