Snakes

Snakes don't have movable eyelids.  There are 2400 species of snakes. There are atleast 500 species of poisonous snakes.  Snakes are can be food for humans.  Snakes keep the rodent population under control.  Snake hunting is a highly developed hooby.  They can hold large animals with thier jaw and the coil.  Young snakes shed their skin more than an adult snake.  The smallest snake is the worm snake that can grow to be 5 to 6 inches.  The biggest snakes are the andaconda and the python that can grow more than 30 ft.  7 species of snakes will be either 18 ft. or higher.

They are cold blooded, and their prey is captured and swallowed alive.  Snakes don't chew their food they swallow it whole.  Snakes atleast have 3 or 4 good meals a year.  When it's mating season the male snakes sniff out the females.  The maximun life spam of a snake is 20 years but some have lived to 30.  There are 10 familes of snakes and they are colubridae, boidae, typhlopidae, leptotyphlopidae, viperidae, elapidae, hydrophiidae, uropeltidae, anilidae, xenopeltidae, and acrochordidae.

They use their forked like tongue to smell and taste.  300 species of the snakes are dangerous to man.  The venomous snakes keep their poison in hollow fangs called poison fangs. All snakes are carnivorous.  When a snake is swallowing its prey it has the risk of sufficating.  To avoid this danger they push their wind pipe out of its mouth so it can breath.  When they bite their prey it puts a cut in the prey's skin so the poison can get in.

                                                 



Coral snakes

1 of the most deadliest snake is the coral snake. The color of it symbols it is deadly.  Their is a type of snake that looks exactly like a coral snake and it is the king snake.  So animals and humans leave it alone afraid to be killed.

Scientists think snakes evolved from lizards.  They cannot produce their own body heat. They rely on the sun to heat their bodies.  Some snakes have been observed eating animals as large as an antelope or a small cow.  Among most species the females are a lot larger than the males.
