Smoosh

About Smoosh

It all started in 2000, when Asy (who was 8 at the time), Chloe (who was 6) and their family went to The Trading Musician (a music store,) to get a violin fixed. The kids heard the drums being played loudly upstairs, and Chloe was drawn instantly. After declaring her love for a red, sparkly drumset and agreeing to take drums lessons, the family left with the $600 kit and the promise of lessons from Jason McGerr, an employee at the store (now the drummer of famous indie band Death Cab For Cutie). Asy had already been playing at open-mics for a couple of years with her self-written keyboard songs, so after Chloe got the hang of the drums, the girls decided to put their musical talent together and form a band (Smoosh). They have alreay toured world-wide with many awesome bands such as The Grates, The Go! Team, The Eels, The Pipettes, The Postmarks, Bloc Party, Tokyo Police Club, Attack In Black, Meligrove Band, and The Dresden Dolls. Smoosh were a two-piece band until early 2007, when they recruited their young sister Maia to play the bass guitar. With two albums and one on the way, Smoosh are truly making a name for themselves in the music world.
