CoverThe caricature on the cover is Christopher Lloyd. Jon and Josh's exchange about "that Doc guy from Back to the Future" references one of Lloyd's most famous roles, mad scientist Doctor Emmett L. Brown. Lloyd is, here, a "bum", dressed as Rev. Jim Ignatowski from Taxi (hence the reference to the Sunshine Cab Company, the name of the company his character worked for in the series). Also, the lettering is animated in the style of that on the BttF poster.
Goofs and Nitpicks
The center horizontal bar is missing from the E in Dimension.

Title: "Un-Civil Warriors"
Story (out of 33 pages): 10 p.
Writer: J. M. Sweet
Penciller: J. M. Sweet
Letterer: J. M. Sweet
Colorist: Jack Staten Monahew
Summary:
Josh and Jon have to write a book report about the Civil War for school...but they don't want to have to study. So what better than going back and seeing the war between the states firsthand? The boys take the Time Couch on a trip to 1863--but run into an unpleasant (and familiar) boy in grey who mistakes them for a pair of Union soldiers and wants to turn them over to Gen. Lee.
Notes
The title is borrowed from a 1935 Three Stooges short. Also, many of the gags, including the one near the end, are borowed directly from the now seldom-seen Bugs Bunny cartoon "Southern Fried Rabbit". (Freleng, 1953).
Benjamin and Billy do not appear in the story, though Billy's absence is explained away by a lame excuse.
"Dang Yankees" refers to the 1955 Broadway stage musical, Damn Yankees, although it has nothing to do with the Civil War. Based on a book by Douglass Wallop, it's about a devoted baseball fan who sells his soul to the devil to become a pennant-winning batter for his favorite team, the Washington Senators, and beat the seemingly unstoppable New York Yankees.

There are three pages of filler in this issue:
"Lessons from the Past: Pizza!" Jon teaches Josh the origin of the Warriors' favorite deep-dish treat. "Lessons from the Past: Money!" Jon takes his friends--and readers--through the history of modern currency. "Gort's Guide to Cheerleading". In a new segment to BDC, "Gort's Guide To...", our intrepid alien host interviews Ditzi Blonden, billed as "the world's most accident-prone cheerleader".
