SmokeFree Foundation is a non-gender, non-governmental, non-partisan, non-religious, non-tribal, non-racial organization primarily incorporated for the purpose of advancing the course of public health consciousness on the imminent grave dangers of active and passive smoking in both public and private places.
It is evident that one out of every three persons is either an active or passive smoker due to the quantity of tobacco and related substances that are indiscriminately used in public places with its attendant consequences on health and the environment.
It is estimated that smokers are about 25% of the world’s population, and unfortunately, each year about 0.5% of them loose their lives because of this vice. To engage in an activity which counts on about 25% of the world’s population as target group represents a real impressive “market share” in encouraging non-smoking habits and assist smokers to quit for a healthy living and, a safe and habitable environment for all.
Research has shown that about 4000 dangerous chemicals are found in cigarette smoke and other related substances.
The public opinion about tobacco and other related hazardous stimulants has become more and more sensitive in relation to its effect on health, wellness and environmental issues. The tobacco use has been and still a main topic of political battles, lobbying, anti tobacco and related substance campaigns which is creating awareness on the real level of damages caused to health and the environment.
SmokeFree Foundation is aimed at assisting in the birth of a new social conscience and culture geared towards the desire for physical and mental wellness, and a better quality of life for all inhabitants of the planet earth. SmokeFree Foundation therefore deems it very appropriate at this time to champion the idea of anti tobacco and other related substances consumption with regards to the United Nations Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC).
SmokeFree Foundation is therefore an umbrella organization to the different categories and sectors on anti tobacco and related substances initiatives and sub-groups.
In the light of the above, SmokeFree Foundation therefore sets out to legitimately contribute in the battle for a safe and habitable environment devoid of pollution from tobacco and other related substances use by employing all legitimate approaches available and within its reach to facilitate the course of free tobacco and other related substances use in the society.
In addition, SmokeFree Foundation shall collaborate with and seek the assistance of relevant and willing health institutions, organisations/agencies, health and authorities both locally and internationally towards achieving these onerous tasks.
