Investment banking is a field of banking that helps certin companies in aquiaring funds and raising capitle. investment banking also gives advice in a wide range of transactions that a company might take part in. Usually banks engage in commercial banking or investment banking in commercial banking. theese companies collect deposits from clients and gives direct loans to companies and buisnesses and individuals in the U.S. (investment banking)
There was a time when it was illegal for banks to have both commercial and investment bankingintill 1999 when the (GLBA)-gramm-leach-Bliley act legalizedit
Investment banking has been said to be a cruel and grueling job with hours often over 70 a week. This could prove troublesome. Also you must be able to make quick money moving decisions.
Investment bankers give needed advice to clients on high level issues about financing organizations; they insure the companies bonds and handle selling the business’s stock into the public. A strong background in finance and economics is a must have. Because you need to know exactly what it is your doing if you are going to be making a company’s big money decisions. Most investors bankers who leave there professions go on to do financial jobs in-house with a client of there former banking firm. Many become rich in money and success.( Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act)

The Gramm-Leach-Bliley act. (as told by Wikipedea.org/Wiki/Gramm-Leach-Bliley_act).
Financial services modernization act. This is an act of the
The Gramm-Leach--Bliley act (GLBA) allowed commercial and investment banks to consolidate. For example Citibank merged with travelers group an insurance company, and in 1997 formed the conglomerate Citigroup a corporation combining banking and insurance underwriting services. Other major mergers in the financial sector had already taken place such as the Smith-Barney, Shearson, Primerica and travelers insurance corporation combination in 1994, would have violated the Glass-Steagall Act and the bank holding acts by combining and securities companies, if not for a contemporary waiver process. The law was passed to legalize these mergers on a permanent basis. Historically, the combined industry has been known act the financial services industry. (GLBA)
To me this means that investment banking between companies was illegal until these acts came into play. If these acts hadn’t happened would the world be different? Most likely. But in what ways. I think the economy would not suffer as much as it is. We would probably not be in debt to other states and would not have as many poor or homeless people because we would have more money and less job cuts. (GLBA)
