St. Marguerite d'Youville Parish, Brampton, Ontario

THE BULLETIN ONLINE

Although this is a site dedicated to the needs of young people, news about the whole parish will be posted here.

25th Sunday of Ordinary Time

Spend a few moments reading the Scripture.  Ask the Lord to let His Word speak to your heart.

READINGS

  • Isaiah 55:6-9
  • Philippians 1:20-24, 27
  • Matthew 20:1-16

Too often we gauge people according to our own very dubious standards of what (and who) is good.  The externals of dress, speech and pedigree fail to take into account the true measure of an individual’s worth:  the love that is rooted in the human heart.  Christ calls us to look beyond labels like “tax collector,” “prostitute,” and seek out and lift up the holiness and goodness that reside in every person who is, like each one of us, a child of God.  The parable of the generous vineyard owner invites us to embrace the vision of God that enables us to welcome everyone to the work of the harvest, to rejoice in God’s blessings to all, to help one another reap the bounty of God’s vineyard.

25th Sunday of Ordinary Time

You welcome those who heed Your call,

God and Master of the vineyard,

no matter how late the hour

or how meager their labour;

for all is Your grace, unmerited and free.

Let us who rejoice in Your graciousness toward us

never begrudge Your generosity toward others.

May we work without ceasing

for the coming of Your Kingdom.

RCIA SPONSORS NEEDED

If you have beena sponsor or would like to become one for the RCIA process, please contact Eliza Albano at the parish office ASAP.  What is an RCIA sponsor?  The sponsor accompanies a person seeking Christian initation.  This role is exercised through the period of preparation for the celebration of the sacraments of Christian Initiation.  The RCIA Sponsor helps, through personal presence, to connect the person with the whole parish and Church community.  The greatest gift a sponsor brings to the RCIA is a willingness to share one's faith with enthusiams and openess.  This is a wonderful opportunity to explore your own faith and understanding of the Church and to help welcome someone into our community of faith.

LIFECHAIN 2008-SAVE THE DATE

Mother Teresa said:  “Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love but to use violence to get what they want.  This is why the greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion.”  Many forget that the status quo in Canada is any abortion, at any time, for any reason, at taxpayer expense.  Many don't’ know that over a third (37.4%) of abortions are done on women who have already had one or more abortions.  Many don’t realize that as a Catholic Christian we need to defend life and publicly oppose abortion.

Life Chain is a simple and prayerful way to give public witness to the Truth that abortion is a violent destruction of human life.  It takes only an hour and all you have to do is stand quietly with others, holding a sign with a simple message.  The signs say:  “Abortion kills Children”, “Abortion hurts Women”, and “Jesus forgives and heals”.  And as you stand, you can quietly pray the Rosary for the conversion of our leaders.  This year Life Chain for our Parish takes place at Main Street from Gage to  Shoppers World.
