Guinea Pig Care

Caring For Happy & Healthy Pets

Guinea Pig Floor Time

Guinea Pigs need as much exercise as they can get.

They are active little animals that can suffer from depression if they become bored, like us they need something to keep them happy, as a happy Guinea Pig is a healthy one too.

Guinea Pigs love to be outside their Hutch or cage.#

However, aside of all the fun they have, there are a few safety issues to go over first.

A Safe Floor Time:

-Cover up or section off any electrical wires/holes.

-Make sure your Guinea Pi can't get out of the encosed area.

-Make sure that you have gave your Guinea Pig food and water while they are in there.

-Make sure that you have encluded a place where your Guinea Pig can hide.

-Watch over your Guinea Pig incase of any accidents.

How To Make It:

You can make your own Guinea Pig enclosure out of card board. This will prevent your Guinea Pig from escaping and doing its self an injury. The Opposite picture is a great example of what I mean, the Guinea Pig wont be able to get out, and the enclosure is in a safe area.

Again, before you do anything else you must cover up any holes or electrical items, as Guinea Pigs could seriously injure of even kill them selves if they nibble though wire.

You will need a place where the Guinea Pigs can hide and have fun. They don't just want to be on an open floor with nothing to do. A Hidey house (see Toys page for details) will provide you Guinea Pig with fun, and if they feel frightned they can go and hide in it too. It will give them confidence as they will have a safe place to run to.
