All too often 3D art software and content is quite expensive. I wanted to take up 3D art as a hobby but didn't want to spend an incredible amount of money. I stumbled across a free 3D program and a bit of free content and began learning my new hobby. That program is DAZ 3D Studio. All the art produced for this website has been created with DAZ and completely free materials. To find out how to make your own free art visit the About Me page. I've come across a new free toy, well two new toys. They're called POV-Ray and PoserRay. PoserRay allows you to load a scene you saved in DAZ (or Poser) and render it. I've done a few renders so far and I'm very impressed. Rendering takes a while but it's worth it. Even simple objects looked fantastic when I used it's Light Dome feature. It isn't as user friendly as DAZ. It took me a good fifteen minutes just to get the basics down. The payoff is worth the effort, though. I highly recommend both programs. To download POV-Ray go to http://www.povray.org/download/ and for PoseRay go to http://mysite.verizon.net/sfg0000/ .
