* The Overall goal of my project is to mod a mechanical PC mouse. * I would like to mod a mechanical mouse. I really want to make the mouse light up. The light would be a small LED. I will need to cut a square out of the mouse, using shop bot or the mill. Replace the square with clear plexiglass the size of the square cut out. I am going to have to use a wire cutter and cut the the orange wire, which is the 5V power. Then, with the LEDs' two metal prongs, put one prong on one end of the cut wire and the other LED prong on the other end of the wire. I would sodder them so they are connected, and electricity can run through them, casuing the LED to use the power of the PC that runs throught to the mouse so the LED shines. * 1. I would like to get all my tools and supplies by Thursday.(All of them are somewhere in the classroom)
* 2. I would like to cut a rather small square of plexiglass (5inch.X5inch.) So the led will shine threough the see through plexiglass. I will do this using the mill or the shop bot, when other people are using it, so i won't be difficicult. Do this within the Thursday after the Thursday of step 1. 3. I Then want to use a sodering iorn within the next two days. 4. Three and a half weeks from Today(Nov. 18) I will most likely be completed with my project. * Im going to have to use sodering techniques.I'm going to need:
1.Sodering Iron
2.LED
3. Wire Cutter
4. Screw Driver(used to open up the mouse)
5. 2 inch X 1.5 inch piece of clear plexiglass
6. Plexiglass
* According to my classmates, I have all the tools I listed above right here in the B.A.R.C. classroom. * I can show the progress of my progress, by showing pictures on facebook, and printing them out and bringing them into class. * I will know that my project is done when an extra LED light is shown from looking at the mouse. Of course, it will need to be a working functional mouse too. * I can do a demo, on a youtube video, and then our class could watch my video using the big screen projector in our classroom. |
