Welcome and Introduction

Hello and Welcome to SleepyDee Geckos.

I am a small, private gecko hobbyist/breeder based in Plymouth, Devon, South-West England; although I have always had a love of reptiles from early childhood I first got interested in the amazing Leopard Geckos several years ago thanks to my family. Not long after I also decided to start building this site ~ firstly to show off my gecko's then gradually it built up and grew (and indeed is still growing) to where I hoped to try and provide useful information and insights from my own experiances along with various studies and research about Leopard Geckos for others; not only those newly coming into the hobby but hopefully things of use for older/experianced keepers.
Sections now include various caresheets not only for adult leo's but also hatchlings, breeding, health along with general information which are updated regularly. A new section that I have been working on is leopard gecko behaviour.
One thing led to another - or in this case one gecko led to another - with the result that things grew from there eventually leading to the collection I now have and enjoy which keeps me busy ~ a collection that along with my Leopard Geckos now also includes African Fat-Tailed Geckos (care and information can be found Here); Australian Barking Geckos; Knob-tailed Geckos, Helmeted Geckos; Viper Geckos and Mourning Geckos ~ these also now have a basic care section under Other Gecko Care.

I spend a lot of time with my geckos and try to give them the best care that is possible. My females are kept either singly or in pairs in decorated wooden vivariums with the males being kept seperate and only put with a few females for a short period each year. All my geckos are fed on a varied diet of livefood such as brown and black crickets, roaches, locusts and mealworms that have been well fed and gutloaded on a mix of fresh vegetables, fruit and cereals ~ my view being the better the livefood is fed the better it is for my geckos.
My aim is not to produce or breed geckos in large numbers ~ I don't breed for commercial enterprise or for profit ~ instead I aim for a high quality of health and vigour in my geckos as opposed to quantity and prices on the few that I may have available reflect this.

I hope you enjoy your visit ~ if you like what you find here or it has been of use in any way then please feel free to sign my guest book or contact me using the links provided
