What is the Millionaire Mind? Can you become a Millionaire without one? How can one achieve the Millionaire Mind?
Investment analyst and Internet Entrepreneur Joseph Tan tells us what a MILLIONAIRE MIND is.
Before you embark on your road to
riches, you will need make sure that you are equipped with the most
important tool of all. Your mind.
Without a Millionaire Mind, you will not be able to accumulate all the
world's riches even if it was delivered to your doorstep. Have you ever
wondered how many instant million-dollar lottery winners remained
Millionaires? That's right, not many. Even rich movie stars, singers,
sports celebrities are known to have gone bankrupt shortly after they
'retire'.
After studying the habits of successful millionaires such as the steel
baron Andrew Carnegie, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford and F.W.Woolworth for
20 years, Napolean Hill, the author of the classic 'Think and Grow
Rich', came to the conclusion that many of these people share similar
mental traits. One of the most pronounced trait was their strong Desire
to succeed despite all odds.
Desire is one of the most powerful emotions a human mind possesses.
Without it, you can never hope to achieve any success in whatever you
do. Well, the good news is, we are all born with this capacity. As a
proof, just take a look a newborn baby trying to walk for the first
time. Also try to recall that special edition comic book, that special
gizmo, that special toy that you have desired when you were a kid and
how that powerful emotion was able to get you what you want.
With Desire, possibilities begin to open up and obstacles suddenly
become insignificant. What will you do if your business went into a 1
billion dollar debt? Will you give up? This was exactly Donald Trump's
predicament but because of his powerful Desire to succeed, he not only
turned his business back into the black but also made a $3.7 billion
profit. All we need to do now is to be able to train our mind focus the
Desire on what we want to achieve. The Desire to be rich, the desire to
be a Millionaire!
This is easier said than done. Why? It is because since we were kids,
our parents and teachers have always told us, 'you cannot have this',
'do not be greedy', 'you do not need that', 'Money is the root of all
evil', 'Money cannot buy happiness'. These messages have subliminally
been programmed into our minds that it may not be the most natural
thing for us to be able to accept the notion of focused Desire for
Money. Our mental model for money is way too entrenched that we need to
recognize and reprogram our minds for it.
Robert Kiyosaki is known to promote 'Money as an Idea' and the Rich are
able to invent money. This is a rather amazing concept. Because the
faster you are able to see money beyond stack of paper cash, the easier
it is to break-out from your negative mental models of money and you
will be free to see new opportunities such as internet businesses and
shares investment.
Back in the late 19th century, an old country doctor went into a drug
store to sell a large, old fashioned kettle with a small slip a paper
to the drug store clerk who paid $500 (his entire savings - a king's
ransom at that time!) for it. The old doctor was glad to sell the
outfit to pay off his debts and the clerk saw the opportunity offered
from the piece of paper. An idea that would revolutionize what we drink
today and the $500 was multiplied million-fold in profits and generated
an entire economy. Can you guess what the idea was?
By the way, the clerk's name was Asa Candler, and the slip of paper contained the secret ingredients for Coca-Cola.
When you are able to see money differently, you will start to open
yourself up to new economies, new forms of trading and investment tools
and techniques, new business models, new fontiers. The possibilities
become endless.
However, having the focused Desire to be Rich, being able to see Money
differently, and having the ideas to invent Money cannot actually start
making you Money until you Act on them. The Millionaire Mind will need
to pro-actively translate actions into ideas. Procrastination is the
biggest killer of ideas. I'm sure you may have come across successful
businesses and said to yourself, 'Hey, I have thought of doing this
before!'
Colonel Sanders, in his 60s and whose fried chicken eatery was on the
verge of collapse due to a new highway that was built, went
door-to-door to sell his recipe. Well, as they say… the rest is
history. If not for Colonel Sanders' pro-active translation of his
ideas into action, we would not have Kentucky Fried Chicken today.
What separates Millionaires from the rest, is their Mind. You will
never be able to succeed in your wealth journey unless you have the
Desire, a holistic view of what Money is, lots of imagination and most
importantly, the pro-activeness to translate ideas into actions.
