Coping Strategies

Keep a daily journal and write down all your thoughts, feelings and whatever triggers you during the day to starve yourself then in a few days time review your journal and see what patterns you can find that might be triggering your ED.

Pick up some hobbies: crafts, drawing, painting, poems, create a recovery site of your own.

Write a short story on your life or about how your ED started

Write down personal daily and long-term goals for yourself to keep healthy

Make a list of reasons why you want to recover

Tell friends and family that you're in recovery and ask them for encouragement and advice

Throw your weighscales away or at least put them out of sight

Start a volunteer job to keep yourself busy if your not working or going to school already

Seek out proffessional help from a psychologist, psychiatrist or mental health worker

Do some baking or cooking and learn new healthy recipes

Chat with a friend on the internet

Write a letter to a family member or close friend
