Utilities and such

The first utility is of Dima Software's authorship - an AGS-specific version of UHS, called AHS, of course. The file also includes hint files for 6 Day Assassin (made by me), A Day in the Future (made by me too), Alien Rape Escape, Pleurgburgh - Dark Ages, LarryWilco and Permanent Daylight, PLUS a template, because - YES, you can create your own files with this! Well worth checking out! Might it make the "Hints and Tips" forum obsolete? ;)

But THIS one was made by Matthew Griffiths, and it's verrrrry interesting and well worth checking out - a visual dialogue editor!

Next up, we've got a font editor made by Radiant, which allows editing ttf, sci and bmp font files! Way to go, Radiant!

Radiant's FontEdit

Now, a pre-configured palette. Now, don't ask me where I got it, I don't remember anymore. But it supposedly eliminates most palette fiddling, as it's a faithful reproduction of the SCI palette. I think. Don't hold me to it, I don't even USE the palette anymore.

SCI Palette file

And another helping hand! This time it's for dealing with palettes. A super-handy tool that essentially serves for copying slots out of palettes and placing them in our OWN palette. Ghormak made it for MrColossal, but now it's in the hands of the people! Go Marx!

This one is of Janik's invention. Quite an inventive lad. And quite an incentive he made, to encourage you to actually use all the sounds you want in AGS without havinf to resort to a notebook to keep track of what sound is what! I give you his very own AGS Sound Manager! Maybe Netmonkey doesn't need to work on his media manager plugin anymore. ::)

Seems like people are all for neat little utilities that load up faster 'n' AGS and serve as storage. :) Candle's program does just that - stores snippets of code quickly, painlessly... give it a shot!

Code Snippets

Right-o - now let's get serious. This one is called Escultor 2.0, and you'll need it to use the "3d Characters Plugin" (you can find in this page). It lacks documentation and tutorials, and, as you can see in it's official page, it's last update has been a long time ago. You'll have to get dirty with it, experiment and guess. Still, from little I know of these things, it seems like a decent, relatively easy, reasonably powerful program.

Well, an alternative which you can also use is MilkShape3D. It just isn't freeware.

Here's the link to MilkShape3D's homepage

And to finish in a grand note, here is what is probably the best AGS companion - honest! Rodekill's "Wurd Problems" is a simple utility that divides your game notes and general designing notes into neat little categories, making it easy to read, access, and even doodle a bit on a very basic... well, "doodler". Coupled with the integrated mini-browser that's set to the AGS mainpage, the forums and some other AGS-related sites (but not this one, unfortunately ::) )... well, you see there's a reason why I say it's the best AGS companion!

Tutorials

Ok, cambada, e agora agradeçam todos ao Felipe por esta versão do manual de AGS em Português! Parabéns, Felipe! Todos nós agradecemos! (Ok, não é um tutorial, mas não tinha mais nenhum sítio onde pôr isto!)

And now here's Zor's work - it would seem that Zor is very concerned with AGS's learning curve, and so, after much deliberation (and a simplified Lec template too!), has written not one, not two, but three nice tutorials! Aw, ain't he sweet!

Have you played "Asporia: Hidden Threat"? Yes? Any chance you'd like to make a similar-styled RPG? Yes? Good for you! Because CoolBlue-Gord10 has released a tutorial that'll let you do just that!

Asporia: Hidden Threat-style RPGs in AGS

Well, this one is not a tutorial but it's close enough - it's a script for making boxfights! Made by Mozane, it does look interesting!

Other resources

Well, well, what do we have here? A site for hosting and sharing pre-made backgrounds? If you haven't released your game because of no artistic talent, you now have no excuse! On the other hand, if you CAN draw, then share! Largo's great initiative needs YOU!

Instagrounds

And now an initiave of Hotspot's - and a welcome one it is too! Have you ever finished a game and... what? Oh, ok. Well, imagine actually FINISHING that game you're working on and having nowhere to upload it! Doesn't it make you feel warm and fuzzy inside to know THAT's not a problem anymore?

AGS Uploads

Following on the heels of that, though it predates it for a full year - an archive of games! Yes, Fuzzpilz has created this archive in 2004... and let it gather some dust. With my help (my role being to keep it as updated as this resource site, though not necessarily as organized) it might become THE archive for AGS games!

Fuzzpillz's archive

And now for something completely different - have you ever used Pamela, the utility that allows for lip-synching in AGS? And have you ever used Magpie? Do you prefer Magpie? No worries! Janik's made a script that exports its files in a format that AGS can cope with! Just place it in your \Magpie Pro\Scripts\Export\ folder, and see the magic happen!

Magpie-to-AGS script

Now we all know about the forums, and we all know about the IRC channel; we all know AGS' adress (it's on this site's nav bar if you're forgetfull!) and most of us know MAGS'. But do you know the Wiki AGS page? You do now!
