The Skiffy Awards

• Every year we have THREE rounds. These rounds are referred to by year and round number. For example, the first round of 2008 would be '2008, Round 1'. The 2008 awards are off our regular schedule, due to the site administrator moving at the beginning of the year, however. The schedule for this year's rounds is:

ROUND 1

• Nominations: March 15th-May 5th 2008
• Voting: May 5th-June 30th
• Winners Announced: July 1st

ROUND 2

• Nominations: July 1st-August 15th
• Voting: August 15th-September 30th
• Winners Announced: October 1st

ROUND 3

• Nominations: October 1st-November 15th
• Voting: November 15th-December 31st
• Winners Announced: January 1st, 2009

WHAT WE DO NOT ALLOW

• No story containing graphic incest, rape for titilation or other squick worthy things is allowed. Plot driven incest or rape (a character having incest in their past serving as a motivator, a woman out for revenge for a brutal rape, etc.) IS allowed but the story MUST be rated NC-17 if it contains anything graphic.
• UNDERAGE SEX IS A STRICT NO-NO! THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS!
• We do not, at this time, accept wildly Alternate Universe stories. Examples would be: a story featuring Harry Potter in a world without magic, Buffy Summers in Ancient Greece without Jossverse-esque cause, Jack O'Neill in a universe where the Stargate does not exist, a story that features James T. Kirk born in the twentieth century and being a figure skating trainer etc.
• Since the awards team, at this time, is so small, we cannot personally review every nomination. We count on YOU, the reader, to use good judgement when nominating and to bring our attention to any nominees that do not conform to these rules.

• Each Genre category may have up to FIFTEEN nominees. If a category receives more nominations than that, the extra noms will be held over to the next round on a first come, first serve basis.
• If a character category receives less than THREE nominations, those nominees will be lumped into the character's respective universe's 'Other' category (Best of Stargate SG-1: Other, for example)
• If a character categroy receives less than TWELVE nominations total, those nominees will be lumped together into a 'Best Of' category (best of Buffy Summers, for example).
• You MAY nominate yourself up to THREE TIMES.
• You MAY nominate members of the awards team.
• If any Universe category receives fewer than three nominations, those nominees will be held over until the next round.
• On the nomination form, when asked if you read the rules, please type "Less talking, more stalking". Your nomination will not be counted otherwise.

• You MUST register at our forum to vote. This lets us keep a handle on possible cheaters/ballot stuffers.
• You MAY NOT register more than once. If we find out you did this, your accounts will be deleted and the story you voted for will be DISQUALIFIED. If you have forgotten your forum log-in, contact us by e-mailing skiffy_awards@yahoo.com
• You may vote in as many or as few categories as you like, however it'd be nice if you voted in as many as possible.

• Any story that has already received a win in the Skiffy Awards may NOT be nominated again. We cannot continue to award the same story the same honors. That's just not fair.
• Stories that have been nominated in the past but that did NOT win, MAY be nominated again.
• Each category may have up to THREE winners (first place, runner up, honorable mention) depending on how many stories were in that category. If Best of Ronon Dex only had two nominees, for example, there would be no honorable mention.
• The Ripple Award CANNOT be voted on. The Ripple is awarded by the awards team to the story we believe deserves recognition the most. Former Ripple Award Winners CAN be nominated in the 'regular' Skiffy Awards.
