  • Caption Contest FAQ
    Every so often Neopets will be adding a new caption competition to the website. The rules are simple: Think of the best, wittiest, funniest caption to the picture below and submit it to us. Neopets will select the best ones and award them with 5,000 - 10,000 NP (depending on if they win or not), a rare item and a trophy for their cabinet.

How often is the Caption Contest?
A new Caption Contest is announced every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The winners are announced when the new contest starts. For example if you entered Monday's contest, the winners will be awarded their prizes on Wednesday.

Note - During holidays the Caption Contest may be a day late.

Why isn't my caption showing up?
Captions must be approved before they will show up on the site. Every time you hit submit your caption is entered into the contest (entering more than once will not increase your chance of winning). Neopets then sorts through and select the best ones to appear on the site. This is done all the time so if you don't see your caption within 24 hours it probably didn't get picked. Neopets has to filter the captions as they get literally thousands of entries and need to make sure nothing unsuitable goes on the site.

How do I win the Caption Contest?
There is no guaranteed way to win the Caption Contest, although being original and funny will definitely help. Typing insults, profanity or anything completely boring most definitely will not help you.

These are some captions that will NEVER win again, as we get hundreds of them for every competition:

  • I see dead anything
  • Where's the cream filling?
  • Get ready to rumble
  • Credit card parodies (please we have heard the priceless one tooooo much!)
  • Any reference to the game Marco Polo
  • Any mention of letting the dogs out
  • Anything having to do with not being in Kansas anymore
  • Dude, where's my ______?
  • Houston, we have a problem.
  • Any Neopet saying Waaaaaaazzzzzzzuuuuuuppppp!!!!!

How will I know if I have won the Caption Contest?
If you have won the Caption Contest your username will be displayed in the caption archive. You will also notice a trophy is now shown in your user lookup (Type your username in the search box at the bottom of the yellow bar to check). As well as the trophy you will be awarded 1000NP and a rare item. The item varies, but it is always something interesting and hard to get hold of :)

  • Mystery Picture Contest
    A new Mystery Picture game will be launched every Wednesday afternoon in Neopets! Neopets will upload a picture that appears somewhere on the site. It is up to you to guess what the picture is! There will only be prizes for the first 500 people to correctly guess. The prize will be 500 Neopoints and a rare item.
    UPDATE : The first 10 people to answer correctly will be given 5,000 Neopoints instead of 500, and 2 items instead of 1.

    Lenny Conundrum
    The Lenny Conundrum is a weekly contest and the first 250 correct answers I will give a prize! It is a difficult riddle and takes a lot of concentration and knowledge of neopets, especially TCG (Trading Card Game), for you to be able to win. It also requires good math skills for a lot of the riddles.

    Beauty Contest
    Can you draw a picture of your Neopet looking great? Well then the Beauty Contest is the place for you! Win prizes and trophies every single week by submitting a GIF or JPG image of your Neopet.

How do I enter?
You need to send us a picture of your pet looking its most handsome or pretty along with a brief speech from your pet. Just click on Enter your Pet from the main Beauty Contest page

Where do I get the pictures from?
You can use any of the pictures from Neopets as a basis for your pet pictures, or you can create it all from scratch. If you want to use an image from the site just save it onto your computer and open it out in any paint program. Once it is open draw on the clothes, make up, hair, etc. that you want your pet to wear and then save it.
If you are using a PC you can right click on any picture you see on the site to get choices for saving to your computer.
If you are using a Mac, click and hold the mouse down over any picture for choices.
You can find pictures of your pets on the Quick Reference Sheet in Pet Central.

Do I have a paint program on my computer?
Most computers come with a paint program as standard. If you have a windows computer press "Start", 'Program Files", "Accessories" then "Paint". A simple paint program should load up now. If you do not have Paint then you can always try downloading some free trial software like Paint Shop Pro from http://www.jasc.com.

What size should it be?
The best size is around 150 by 150 pixels (this is the same as most of the pictures on the site). Most paint programs have the option to resize your working area. Try looking under the "View" or "Image" tabs on the toolbar. If you can't find it there then try searching the programs Help file for the word RESIZE. To make it easier for people to browse the pets, please make sure that the images you create are less than 17 kilobytes. Thank you.

What shall I save it as?
The Neopian Beauty Contest currently works with .JPG and .GIF images. To save your file as a .gif or .jpg click on "File", "Save As" once you have finished your drawing. Type in the file name of your picture. For example if your pet was called Fred and your username is Bobby you may choose the file name fredbybobby.gif Select *.JPG or *.GIF from the drop down menu and then press "OK". Again, if you have problems doing this try searching for JPG or GIF in the paint programs Help file.
We currently do not accept .bmp, .png, or any type of files except .gif and .jpg images.

How do I enter my pet?
Simply go to the Beauty Contest Page and select Enter Your Pets. Under the pet you want to enter, click on browse and find the image you created. Enter a speech for the judges below, and click on Enter. It's that easy. Remember to Vote for your favourite pets as well.

Why hasn't my pet shown up?
We go over all submissions by hand to ensure that they are appropriate and that everything is ok. We have our staff working to get all pets verified as fast as humanly possible.

What about people who enter images directly from the site?
We will not be accepting images that are taken directly from the site and not changed. The purpose of the contest is for everyone to enjoy how you see your pets and give you a chance to dress and/or adorn them.

How often are contests going to be run?

Why didn't my pet's whole speech show up?
To keep the pet displays looking nice we have restricted the size of the speech you can enter to 250 letters. If your pet's description was cut off, feel free to rewrite your speech and resubmit to change it.

I can't get my pet into .jpg or .gif format. Can you help me ?
Unfortunately, due to the number of people entering the contest we can't offer individual help with making or saving your images. Please consult the help pages in your graphics program or try downloading some free trial software like Paint Shop Pro from http://www.jasc.com.

How often can I vote?
Everyone is allowed 1 vote per contest for each of our 46 species. Make sure to take the time to look over all the contestants before making up your mind.
