Two days later, the entire Family was sold to a slaughter dealer. In January, 2008, Priscilla Presley adopted Max, one of the Six. Max is now safe and sound, living at Graceland with his equine friends Candy and Sun. We are grateful for the wonderful support of our celebrity patroness. As for his part, Max is loved and enjoying his own special brand of celebrity status at Graceland. Learn the whole wonderful story in Max Moves to Graceland By June of 2009, all the horses continue to do well. Max is truly a star at Graceland. We have moved the other boys - Sunny, Merlin and Louden - to Virginia for the winter. They live on a pastoral estate there and are settled and happy. The girls remain here in Maine for the moment. Later this year, we will reunite the family. The horses have grown a great deal since first rescued. They learned to trust the people who work with them. They no longer run from the sight of a halter. Rather, they bow their heads in cooperation, looking for that treat expected after they do so. A gentle family, they have been gentled in the way they understand, and never treated roughly. For details on their progress, check out Updates. All are permanently safe from slaughter forever. All is good for the Family of Six. Please work on behalf of changing the law to end horse slaughter, which should indeed be illegal. Concerned Mainers rallied. We bought the entire family from the dealer the next morning. Now the Six Horses are safe. They are embraced by all who hear their story. They escaped, unlike so many betrayed horses lost to slaughter.
