It is thee I will fell with my F2L....

1/10/08

It's been a looooong time since I've updated this site.  Probably b/c of a little thing called college....lol.  Well I received a few leaderboard requests so I updated that.  A correction was made to the alternative algorithm for F2L #23.

A new website that is being built is the MIT Rubik's Cube Club website.  It looks really pretty, although it doesn't have much on it as of this writing.  Over time it should expand and eventually kind of assimilate this site's information into it (albeit probably only algorithms...not the personal stuff).  However, this might not even happen (I'm not the web designer).  Anyway, here is the address: http://web.mit.edu/cubeclub  That's all for now.  Peace.

8/9/08

Leaderboard updated.  I'm getting better at one-handed solving - I'm seeing that it's my strongest event now.  I'm about to leave for college at the end of the week - yikes.  I'm really going to miss all of you guys from the TCA.  It's been pretty awesome getting to know you all and letting me share my passion for speedcubing with you guys.  Hopefully I'll see some of you guys at US Nationals next year.  Keep in touch!

8/4/08

So yeah I added a new page...lol

7/24/08

Whoo!  Lots of editing done tonight.  US Nationals was great, a recount of how it went is in the My Cubing Experience section.  I actually added some fingertricks to the Finger Trick section, and I added to the OLL section!  Less than 20 to go!  So yeah, I'm glad I've made some much needed progress on this site - more updates to come.

7/15/08

I'm going to US Nationals!  I'm pretty excited - I'll be competing in the Rubik's Cube speedsolve, One Handed, and 3x3x3 BLD events.  I think I'll perform in that order from best to worst.  My goals: get a sub-15 average for the speedsolve, sub-27 average for OH, and a sub 4 minutes solve for BLD.  I'm out of practice - I'm getting 16 and 17 (and even 18 while warming up...) second averages.  I defintely need to get my hands working again.  I think after a couple averages of 100 I'll be in great shape though.  I will update the My Cubing Experience page once the competition is over.

I'll also update the videos with some Dani B. has put on youtube.  Also I'll some more, as soon as Dani B. sends me those last TCA videos he has, so we can all see the races other than when I lose, haha.

5/27/08 - Sub 15 Average!!!

So last weekend on Friday night I was cubing in my room (yeah I'm pretty lame I stayed at home on a Friday night...) and i did an average of 100 - something I haven't done in a while.  I was pretty disappointed, since I had an average of 18 seconds.  The next morning I started practicing again, and my average gradually went from 17 to 16 to 15...before I knew it I had a new best average of 14.18 seconds!  I was pretty happy with this, as I reached my goal before the school year was out.  Sweet, if I practice enough in the next few months, I actually might have a shot (albeit a small one) at winning (yes i said winning!) the US Open (if I'm able to go).  So yeah, I've made some good progress.  Leaderboard updated, although I'm sure Danny H. has an average better than me at this point.

4/23/08

Time is becoming something I am having less and less of, as exams approach.  I will try to update when the chance arises, however.  Any quick questions are best answered, as always, in the chat box.  Leaderboard, Goals, and Nemeses update.  Peace...

3/26/08

Leaderboard and Goals updated.  No time to practice at the moment.....Maybe this weekend.

3/17/08

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  Didn't cube much today.  I updated the leaderboard, Danny you're close to breaking the WR lol...Curran you're average has been updated, and I updated my OH average (finally sub 30!!!).  Advanced F2L section tweaked a little bit as well.

3/14/08

Leaderboard updated.  Goals and Nemeses updated.  And....

 two new PBs :P

3/11/08

Leaderboard has been updated (rather quick, huh?), as well as the Goals and Nemeses sections.  I also added a bit of color.

3/8/08

I apologize for my absence...Leaderboard has been updated.  I also started working on the Advanced F2L section, there are now 6 algorithms up there.  Almost at 1.000 hits!  Enjoy.

2/4/08

New video of me averaging 17.68 seconds.  Leaderboard updated.  I have been surpassed!  The nefarious Danny Han has taken the top rank for average 3x3x3 time.  That's it.....one of my own students surpassing me.....ridiculous..

Anyway...I'll try to work on advanced f2l soon, since nothing is there yet

1/26/08

Leaderboard updated.  New PB today!

PLL tutorial video is in the works, it will cover all PLLs and different techniques for performing each one.  So...stay tuned.  New additions to the advanced F2L section will follow soon.

7/8/07

F2L is coming along, about half-way done.  New template, new and improved chat box that's on all pages.  Cubing experience page updated to include some of my time at Trinity High (suggested by Casey).  I actually wrote some rules and regulations for the TCA.....I need to get some stackmats though.  More to come, I'm thinking about adding a fast and slow video for every Fridrich algorithm eventually - hehe.

8/16/07

Haven't been here in awhile...lot's of summer stuff going on.  I actually took the time to complete the cube maintainence page.  OLL is about half done.  I'm itching to start adding my blindfold guide but I'd rather finish Fridrich method first.  New PB avg: 19.22 a couple days ago.  I avg 21-22 consistently.  One-handed section coming soon (I avg. sub-40 now).  Walk it out.  T-perm all day.  North side.  Peace.

6/21/07

Well, so basically this is my second attempt at a website.  The xanga didn't work out too well....lol.  But that's besides the point.  The purpose for this site is mainly for speedcubers out there who wish to learn and share information about the Rubik's Cube (and other twisty puzzles).  I'll try to constantly upgrade this site so it's the best it can be.  Peace, Alex M.

7/11/07

F2L section is finished! Complete with color coded algorithms for aided learning, with increasing difficulty levels.  Pairing and insertion explained.  Alternative algorithms given (will add some more later) and some double layer/cube turn algorithms for some cases.  On to OLL!

6/23/07

Lots of progress!  Many new things implemented, including video section, links, beginning of Fridrich method tutorial, and beginning of beginner's method tutorial.  Beginner's tutorial will be finished soon.  Blindfold section will probably come after that.

Sub 20 Average!

w00t!!!  I finally got a sub-20 average today!  I watched the Gungz Sunday Contest video on Youtube and I guess I got kind of inspired.  I've been striving for this goal for a long time so it's nice to finally find some success.   It's now been aroudn 13 months since I picked up a cube for the first time.  New goal: average sub-20 consistently before summer is over.  XD XD :P :P

6/29/07

Cross section completed (at least for now).  F2L section put up, though there aren't many algs up yet.  A couple pages were deleted that I just felt were kinda taking up space.  Much thanks to Lars Vandenbergh for providing the ImageCube on his website so I could use it here.  I'm thinking about switching templates for better viewing of the images.

Two PLL skips in a row today...one of which was 15 seconds and can be seen here.

I had a cheese flavored muffin last week.  It was actually pretty tasty.  Just thought you should know. :)
