Lady Llanofer Heritage - Skirrid

|
The Lady Llanofer Heritage
range was introduced in 2003 to celebrate the style and traditions
promoted by Lady Llanofer, who lived near Abergavenny a century before.
Lady Llanofer promoted Welsh
traditions. Almost single-handedly, she was behind many of the images
we know as 'Welsh' today including the traditional clothes and
stove-pipe hats seen on 'Welsh' dolls, and the use of the triple harp.
She also ran a weaving mill, and created several unique weaving designs.
It was thought the designs had been
lost until a chance encounter some years ago between Stuart Neale of
SIONI RHYS HANDWEAVERS and a member of the Llanofer family, who had
preserved a fragment of original cloth. From that fragment, SIONI RHYS
HANDWEAVERS created three 'Llanofer' designs, named after local
features of the Welsh landscape:
SKIRRID (Ysgyryd)
PEN-Y-FAL
BLORENGE
All the Llanofer Heritage carthenni, of course, are handwoven products
- beautiful, warm, long-lasting, each one a unique but timeless tribute
to all that is special about the traditions and culture of Wales...
Lady Llanofer - she of harp and hat - would have been proud!
