Early Singapore
|
Many centuries ago, Singapore was called Temasek. According to a old story, a Malay prince, Sang Nila Utama, came to Temasek island and saw an animal which was a lion. He renamed the island Singapura for Lion city.

Founding Singapore
|
On 29th January 1819 Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles founded Singapore. He landed near the Singapore River. Before he arrived the Malay and Chinese lived in Singapore.
