***IMPORTANT NOTICE***

updated 1/13/2009

This is one of the saddest moments for the Sinful Chins family. We are very sorry to announce that we will no longer be able to accept rescues into our home. We will continue to list your animals on the site if you need help rehoming them, but unfortunately cannot take them into our home. We will also be down-sizing our store to carry only the following items: hay, Mazuri pellets, dust, rosehips, hay cubes and pumice stones.  We apologize for the inconvenience this causes anyone and want to thank everyone that supported us up to this point. Alex and I truly love rescuing and it breaks our hearts to close our doors. Alex and I are hoping that when life settles down for us, and our families, that we will be able to get things off the ground again.

Hello! My name is Cindy and I am the owner of Sinful Chins. I am a dedicated pet owner that has done a lot of research and dedicated a lot of time into learning all I can about chinchillas. Any information you read on my site is what I have learned in the past 6 years. I am not going to say that everything I do is correct- There are always several answers to every problem/question and everyone has different opinions. But I believe that the methods I use and the products I use have been proven most beneficial to chinchillas. It is important that I mention I am not a breeder, nor a vet. While I have respect for breeders that are able to improve the lines of these precious animals, I cannot see producing more chins when there are so many that need homes. I am also not a vet and should you at any time have doubts about your chinchillas care or condition PLEASE do not hesitate- take your chin to a vet.

My husband Alex and I have owned chinchillas for about 6 years now. We currently have 4 male chinchillas: Draco, Griffin, Gizmo, and Roo. You can find out more information on our chins and see a few pictures on the "My Chins" page. Our chinchillas are our "kids" and they are our pride and joy. We have recently made the decision to start a small rescue organization out of our home- so check back for any additions we may have. Rescuing is going to be a lot of hard work, but we feel we are up to the challenge.

Now a little explaination on the name I have chosen for this site (since I have had several inquiries). I chose the name for a couple of reasons. One, my nickname among most of my friends and family is Sin or Sinful. I am told this is mostly because I am not as innocent as I look and most people seem to find the name fits me well after they get to know me. But I have found this oh so true for chinchillas. These precious little balls of fur steal your heart away with their sweet little faces, but their curiosity and rambunctious shenanigans tend to get them in trouble from time to time. So they too are rather "sinful". I think if you are a chin owner you will definitely agree that the name fits.

On my site you will find several links that I use on a regular basis. My favorites being www.chins-n-quills.com and http://anntwo.proboards105.com/index.cgi. Most everything I have learned, I learned from extremely knowledgable people on these forums. You will also see that I have compiled some of this information on my basic care pages. If you are not a chinchilla owner, or if you have never really done any real research, I do recommend that you read over the information or go search around on either of those forums. Owning a chinchilla (or any other pet) is a huge responsibilty and I believe you should always do a fair amount of research before you bring an animal into your home. This way you know that you are giving your pet the best care that you possibly can. Afterall, in most cases you chose the pet, they didn't choose you, and they depend on you to provide for them what they cannot provide for themselves.

If you need help re-homing your chin- no matter what state you are in- PLEASE contact me. If I cannot take them here I will do all I can to help find your chin a great home some where else! Please make a shelter a last resort, there are tons of loving chinchilla owners that can probably find a way to help and keep your chin in a chin friendly environment!
