Anne Rainbow - Associate Amichien Dog Listener

Rescue Dogs

I am lucky to have found all of my dogs via rescue organisations.I owe the wonderful people who work within such centres a huge amount of thanks as without them I would not have met my best friends. It is for this reason that I am always so happy to help any rescue group who would like to know more about Amichien® and how it can further improve the lives of the dogs in their care, please do contact me if you run/work for such a group and would like to know more.

If you are thinking of offering a home to a dog from a shelter please do think about it carefully the last thing these dogs need is yet more uncertainty. They may need more time to learn to trust than you intially think and a lot of understanding. There is after all no such thing as instant best friends even with canines. Your new dog may not be ready within the first few months to enjoy a family holiday on a busy caravan park - what can be huge fun for us humans can be shear terror for a dog so carefull planning ahead is a good idea. All that said - what tremendous pleasure these dogs can bring into our lives when they learn to trust again.

If you are one of those special people who decide that you would like to give a dog a second chance then to buy Jan's book 'The Dog Listener' is a great way to start, by learning what your new best friend will be looking for in you, the human carer, then you can really help them settle and feel safe in your care with great ease. The dogs that I now share my life with all walked through my door with their own  issues.Amichien® has given me the skills to overcome those issues resulting in happy, relaxed dogs.

Most dogs that get returned to centres time and time again only do so because the carer hasn't  been able to give the dog the information it was looking for in a way it understands, so please, if you are having problems with your new rescue dog contact the rehoming centre as soon as you have one problem - don't be tempted to leave it until you have a list of them. The sooner you get help the calmer it will be for all concerned. A lot of  rescue centres do work alongside or have the contact details of  Jan Fennell trained Dog Listeners and can put you in touch.
