Well this has started off good, hasn't it? I didn't get round to write in my journal yesterday, but I did think about it--I wonder if that counts? I can't seem to get the hang of writing in here first thing in the morning, at least I managed a little earlier today, though by now I've forgot what I've dreamt of. Woke up early to the boys arguing. I also have a killer of a headache--and I'm sitting in the same room with two teenagers playing guitars.
Hmmm... guitars, I'm now thinking of a character playing a guitar: male guitarists; shabby clothes, jeans with holes and chains; black t-shirt with skulls; converse shoes, black; wristbands and gloves and black rope necklaces; dyed black hair, emo style; heavy black eyeliner, lipstick, nail varnish. Soft well spoken voice. Shy, fairly quiet. Homeless, buskers on the streets for money. What happens? What makes him different? Maybe a soul collector?Or maybe a soul collector wants to take him? Or maybe he plays constantly but doesn't make enough money, on a cold, wet, freezing night he dies, but his music can be heard through the night.
There you go, that's today's inspiration. What next? Write up a cluster based on some of these words: goth, guitar, homeless. Then based on the results of the cluster knock out a couple of freewrites. Easy ... think I'll go have a play on me 360 first ... or I could play a couple of games online. Damn, the internet is a distraction....
All entries that are headed with 'Journal' and a date are from my handwritten journal.
This is a journal about my writing. The reason why I'm writing in here is solely based on my experience as an Open University student doing a Creative Writing and Start Writing Fiction course. Both courses recommend writing in a journal daily, though they do say to do it first thing in the morning--there's no chance of that here! Not with the kids--or more to the point--I am SO not a morning person. Though there have been the odd mornings when I have written down my dreams. They have turned into short stories--so I do agree with them there. But, what if you have not dreamt and your mind is blank, then what? I can't be arsed with an attack of 'Writers Block' first thing in the morning. I prefer to write at night, it is then I can sit and relax--the kids are in bed and the house is fairly quiet.
Okay, back to what I'm going to write in here. The course says the following tasks will hep: clusters; freewrites; haiku's; daily events; thoughts; feelings; dreams; list what books I've read or reading and what I think of them; interesting words from the dictionary; or phrases that I find interesting; basically, anything that may inspire me.
I've made a few notes in my smaller notebooks of ideas that may inspire me as a story. Later on I'll have to add these in here when I get the time. Right now I can't be arsed. The hubby is watching a film chomping on popcorn, right now I'd rather be curled up beside him, but I've fallen behind with my course so I really must pull my finger out. I also have an assignment to write for the course that I'm finishing--I so don't like writing essays--I've decided I don't like writing things based on facts.
Thinking back to what I'm supposed to write in here, it does say I should try to write a little more in my journal each time--shit!--I should have started off with a few short line. Well, I suppose I better get some work done, it ain't gonna get itself written.
- Get Your Own
Well, as you can see, it's been a while since I last updated my website or any of my blogs. Due to a few health problems I've been a little inactive where my writing is concerned ... okay, okay, I've done sod all for months! But at least I've managed to write the odd bits and pieces for my OU course. I've now finished two courses, at the moment I'm waiting for my results ... fingers crossed I'll pass! My current course is Creative Writing, this one doesn't end til around Oct--five assignments altogether, the first one I passed, waiting to hear about the second one. Not looking forward to the third one, it's based on poetry ...
Okay, what's new ... I've updated me published page. Okay, I'll nip off and and have a twiddle.
