Simeon Shamai

Straight Egyptian at Stud

Zadahan Welcomes Simeon Shamai!

A new era dawns at Zadahan Arabian Horses!

Simeon Shamai has joined our family, he comes from a past steeped in history and is everything a discerning Pharaoh would have wanted!

Egypt is renowned for the extraordinary Arabians it has bred for millenia... we are excited to have an exquisite piece of that unique history in Shamai. The "Straight Egyptian" gene pool is highly prized for it's purity, unique desert look (dryness and type) and it's remarkable ability to improve on other bloodlines... and even amongst Egyptians, Shamai is bred to be a King!

Shamai is a son of the important sire Anaza Bay Shahh impUSA... chosen to bring the blood of Deenaa to Simeon Stud, he consistently breeds on his lovely limbs and feet, classic body, enormous eyes and beautiful type. The only son of the immortal Shaikh Al Badi in Australia... his pedigree reads like a who's who of the famous old lines from the EAO, possibly the last Morafic/Ansata Ibn Halima grandson alive, he has so many greats so close up... Bay Shahh is a living treasure!

Shamai's dam is the exquisite liver chestnut Asfour impGermany daughter Simeon Shiraz... who, even after breaking her shoulder as a young mare, went on to win National and East Coast Champion filly and Australian Reserve Champion filly. Shiraz is a granddaughter of Malik and Simeon Shai, she has bred particularly well with Bay Shahh... Shamai has 2 bay full siblings and also a black full sister recently exported to Spain, a brown sister and another black one, proving the strength of this cross.

Kate says... Shamai was chosen because he blew me away with his beautiful face, cheeky personality, size and his awesome straight movement. I was just amazed by how correct his legs and feet were... it was definitely goosebumps and love at first sight!

The day I first saw Shamai will live forever in my memory, his affect on me was profound - I was instantly filled with dreams and although I tried to be objective about it, I was hopelessly smitten and after my second visit to see him (I wondered "was he really that awesome?"), he showed me the full extent of his movement that day and I then bent heaven and earth to bring him home to Zadahan!

I will always be grateful to Marion Richmond, his breeder, for making him available to us as her "baby gift" for Clancy's arrival, we never dreamed we would have a son of Shiraz!

Zadahan has big plans for a performance career for him!

Shamai bears an amazing resemblance to his illustrious great-grandsire Simeon Shai, the only horse to ever win the Triple Crown (USA, Scottsdale and Canadian Champion stallion) and World Champion in Paris in the same year! We hope he proves to be as remarkable a sire as Shai!

Please look through his site, read about his illustrious heritage and let us know what you think, we welcome feedback and visitors, so don't forget to sign Shamai's guestbook and leave your web link so we can 'meet' your horses too!

NEWS! Shamai's first filly arrives at Zadahan!

Welcome news!

Simeon Shamai's first ever baby has arrived... the bay-grey filly from our foundation mare Pembac Arliah (by Gai General) arrived on 24th January 2008.

Very much in the mould of her sire, both in looks and in mischeivous temperament, we couldn't be happier with her... and after 12 years between foalings, we think Arliah has done a wonderful job in giving us an heiress... we plan to campaign this filly; she really is lovely. Arliah has been re-bred to Shamai.

Our new arrival has been paddock-named Minx and she is registered as Zadahan Shakirah which is Arabic for grateful, because I am so grateful!!

To see an album of photos from her birth to yearling and recent yearling photos taken in March 2009...  use the nav bar or follow this link... ALBUMS and select either album; Shakirah - birth to 1 yr and/or Shakirah Album

She has the prettiest 'sea-horse' head, beautiful big dark eyes, her legs, feet and movement are top quality and she possesses show ring pizzaz... this filly will take the ring by storm!
