Thank you for returning once again to Area 62. This week we will visit the home of Olive Specter's widower, Douglas Kim. If you will remember from last time, Olive had died and left Douglas Kim to raise their two adopted sons, Anthony and Avri. Let's go now and see how things have turned out for Douglas and his boys.
Specter/Kim Family - Chapter 2
Hi, this is Douglas here, speaking to you all from beyond the grave. I had to do some serious negotitations with Death to be able to do this but here I am.
I ended up having two of the greatest boys in the world. Anthony and Avri act just like true brothers even though they look about as different as possible. They never get into fights and I'll quite often discover them hanging out together talking about sports or school or whatever.
But they were growing up fast. It hardly seems like enough time has passed since Anthony came to live with us for him to be starting high school. But he sure is. At his birthday party, Avri was a little jealous because his brother was going to the "big school" and he wasn't. I think Anthony is ready to assert a bit of independence though.

Even though he's in high school now, Anthony still spends a lot of time with his brother. Anthony is trying to teach Avri to dance like they do at his high school dances.
I guess I expected it sooner or later but Anthony has a crush. I was a little surprised to see the girl he had a crush on. Her name is Radient Curious and she is half alien. I had heard about aliens living in the town but I never really believe it was true until I saw Radient. She really is a sweet girl and was raised by her father and his brothers. She says she has an alien brother as well. It was all a little much but Anthony really seems to like her.
Ever since Radient came around Anthony has been rather interested in watching the stars. He claims he would like to meet Radient's alien father some day. I'm not so sure how I feel about that but I let him keep watching the stars anyway.
I know it may seem a little crazy and I guess now in hindsight it kind of was but I had heard Avri telling me about a boy who had just lost his parents and was going to have to move far away into an orphanage. I took pity on the poor kid and adopted him. That is how Armando came to live with us.

Soon after Armando arrived it was time for Avri to join Anthony in high school.

Unfortunately, I did not live to see any more of my sons' lives. I do watch them from here and I can see that they are doing well. But my heart breaks that I can't interact with them anymore. Looking back I do wish I wouldn't have waited so long to have children. I would have enjoyed them so much when I was younger. That was why I did not welcome Death the same way my late wife did.
I did my best to leave my boys finiancially stable. They got their inheritances but I am sure they would rather have me back with them. At least I hope so anyway.
They buried me in the yard underneath a birch tree. It hurts to see the boys mourning over me. But life must go on.
Anthony had convinced Avri to join him in watching the stars for Radient's family. Well it turned out that Radient's alien family was a little more interested in Avri than Anthony. Because they came for Avri. He was a little surprised when he was suddenly engulfed in a glowing blue light.
When the UFO started pulling Avri toward the ship Anthony could just stand by and shout, "Why not me?" I think Avri would have much rather it been Anthony than himself. Avri fought the alien force as hard as he could but in the end the aliens won.
Avri was gone for several hours. Armando had been awakened by the noise of the ship and was pretty scared. I was very impressed with how Anthony handled the situation. My oldest son was quickly becoming a man.
Around 3:30 am the aliens returned Avri to our home. I was surprised to see the ship spit him out like a bad piece of meat.
Poor Avri hit the road pretty hard. Anthony and Armando ran out to collect him and help him to bed. Anthony had a million questions for Avri but as you could imagine, Avri did not want to answer them. I'm not sure if Avri will ever be able to answer Anthony's questions. It breaks my heart to see him break down at the thought of what happened.
Poor Avri has had a rough go of it. I do hope things get better for him.
