Legacy and Prosperity Challenges

Welcome once again to Area 62.  As you can see we've found a new home.  Our last location was not as helpful as we had originally hoped it would be so we have found a new location.  Feel free to take a few moments to look around before continuing on with this week's installment.

You've finished. Wonderful.  I hope you like it.  Well, this week we will be visiting the home of the Smiths.  If you will remember from the last time we came to visit, Jenny had become an elder, Jill was a teenager in love and Johnny was off at college.  Well, this week we find Johnny has returned from La Fiesta Tech along with his long-time sweetheart Ophelia Nigmos.  Please join us as Johnny fill us in on how life as an adult has turned out for him.

Smith Family - Chapter 2

Hi.  I'm Johnny.  I wasn't really around much the last time you visisted because I was leaving for college.  Well, let me tell you a bit of what happened at college before I go on.  First of all I changed my life goal from being the most popular guy around to knowing as much as I can.  I want to become chief of staff at Area General.  I got my degree in biology and graduated magna cum laude.  I slacked off a bit my first semester but then picked it up for the rest of it.  I propsed to Ophelia during our junior year.  Ophelia is pretty much the only woman I've ever loved.

Ophelia's parents died when she was still a kid and she had to go live with her crazy Aunt Olive.  Her aunt died and left Ophelia high and dry so after we graduated she moved back home with me.  We were getting married and all.  Plus, she had to plan our wedding and weddings are like these HUGE deals for girls so I let her go.

My mom and sister went with Ophelia to go dress shopping.  They took pictures and showed me the dresses she DIDN'T pick.  I couldn't help but thinking, man if these are the ones she didn't pick what DID she pick?

On the day of our wedding Ophelia and I were both really nervous.  She spent the morning talking to my mom and sister about joining the family.

I sat by the pool and talked to my dad about married life.  Of course, my dad, being an alien and all, has a little different outlook on things than your typical father.  But his advice was good nonetheless.

We had our wedding in our back yard.  Dad had always worked hard with landscaping so it was a beautiful place to have it.  Mom and Dad got this arch decorated with ivy and flowers that was really nice.  Before the wedding we took some individual shots by the arch.  We did them without each other because you know a groom can't see his bride before the wedding.  So here I am:

And here's Ophelia:

Isn't she just the most beautiful bride you've ever seen?  So I was really nervous but when Ophelia walked down the aisle and saw me she made me feel so much better.

We said our vows and had our first kiss as husband and wife.

Then we had a little reception.  We had our first dance together and then we shared a dance with my parents because they have been like forever.  My mom looked really good but I don't know why my dad insisted on that pink tux.  Aliens, ya know.

Right before we left for our little honeymoon we cut the cake.  Ophelia was very civilized feeding me the cake.  I probably would have been less so but Ophelia is just so refined.  She's good for me really.

So we had a great time on our honeymoon and after we got back it was time to settle into a more normal life.  I had a hard time finding a job but since Ophelia and I had some money from college we decided we'd buy this little flower shop in the new shopping district, Bluewater Villiage.  Its called Just Flower and More.  I know its a corny title but we are sticking with it because that is how people know it.  Its been great.  Ophelia makes flower arrangements and works the cash register and I work on sales and restocking.  Its a quiet little store right now but we hope business will be booming before long.

Our busniess did get put on hold a little bit when we found out Ophelia was pregnant.

That's right.  I'm going to be a father.  I'm excited and nervous all at the same time.  I love seeing my wife pregnant.  She is just so beautiful.  She laughs at me when I talk to her belly but hey, I want my kid to know who their father is.  There's nothing wrong with that.

Our happiness at Ophelia's pregancy was kind of short lived because at about the start of her third trimester my dad died. I knew he was getting old and all but I guess I just never realized how old he was.

He left us a some money and Ophelia and I were able to use my inheritance to expand our little shop.   Mom didn't care too much about the money, she just misses dad and Jill is going to use hers to help with college.  Its sad though, he never got to see his grandkid.

Jill really had a hard time with dad's death.  I can't say that I blame her.  I mean she's still in school.  That's a hard thing to have to deal with.  She keeps changing her hair and spends a lot of time dancing with friends.  I guess its her way of coping but she won't really talk to me too much about it.  I just let her do her thing.

Ophelia's really been having a hard time with her pregnacy.  She's about as big as a house and is either in bed sleeping, eating or floating in the pool.  She says having a baby at the end of the summer is just awful.  She's so hot.  I know its not the nicest to say but she looks so big in her bathing suit.  Ophelia's always been so small that is strange to see her belly sticking out so much.

Fortunately, I guess, she went into labor a bit early.  I'm glad my mom was around to give her a hand because I was so freaked out I didn't know what to do!

So, imagine my shock when they told me we were having twins!

The first baby born was a boy, Kevin.

The second baby was a girl, Kya.

I thought it was pretty lucky that we had a boy and a girl but Ophelia wants to have three kids and see them all graduate from college so we'll probably have one more but right now we have our hands full.  We change off between feeding them

and changing their diapers.

They grew up so fast!  They are toddlers already.  Here's Kevin as a toddler:

Here is Kya.  Don't worry she got new clothes soon after her birthday.  But she still sleeps in her little bear suit.

Shortly after the twins birthday Jill announced that she had a few scholarships and was going off to La Fiesta Tech.  She was going with her boyfriend Buck Grunt.  Buck's dad hated my dad and his brother Tank hates me but Buck seems like a nice enough guy.  If he's not I may have to hurt him.  Hey, what are big brothers for?  But I was pretty sad to see Jill go off.  So was my mom but at least she has grandkids around now.

Ophelia and I are ready to start trying to have another baby so she can have her three kids.  Hopefully, we don't end up with twins again.

Thanks for filling us in Johnny.  Congratulations on the twins.

Thanks.  They are really special.

Glad you are enjoying them.  Well folks, that is all we have this week.  Feel free to look around a little bit more before leaving and we hope to see you again next week.
