SMK USJ 8 4TH ANUAL SPORTS DAY.
On
In about 10 minutes later, the scouts got in position with the other contestant
which are, Pasukan Bomba, Pasukan Kadet Polis, Pasukan Kadet Remaja Sekolah,
Pandu Puteri, Persatuan Bulan Sabit Merah, Rumah Biru, Rumah Merah, Rumah
Kuning, Rumah Ungu, dan Rumah Hijau. 5 minutes later, receiving orders
from a commander the competition started. The scouts waited patiently and
calmly. Taking one last breath, the scouts received orders from their marching
comander, Adrian Tan, and they started marching. Almost reaching the VIP
tents, one of the MKKPs, Sean Wong Ryui Zyen, chanted a chant our ex-
troop leader, Wong Ryui Bynn, learnt from National Service and passed down to
us. "Hey Walley! Waasuwasu! Wasah Etek Etek Tongga! Bambalajulaju!
Pengakap Nombor Satu!" Loudly, Sean, chanted the chant that made the
spirit rised higher in the rest of the other marching scouts. Passing the VIP
tent, they softly chanted the usual "kirip kirip kirip kanan" and
used their new knowledge of "hormat superman". With the sound of a "whoosh",
the "hormat" was over and they went back to their normal marching and
continued in to the field.
Marching in to the field, scouts stopped next to Kadet Bomba and stood in the
sun waiting for orders from the commander. When Persatuan Bulan Sabit Merah
stopped next to them, the whole stadium went silent. A while later, everyone
were given orders to be in "keadaan senang diri". Even standing in
the blazing hot sun, the scouts did not fret nor move a muscle. Only moving
their toes and fingers, scouts stood tall and proud, with sweat in their eyes
and getting sun burn every minute. While listening to speeches, one of the
MKKPs, Lim Wan Ying, took a step out, not being able to stand the heat, with
her burning fever. She took a rest and came back in between the speeches to
rejoin the marching. After speeches and the "Perasmian Hari Sukan SMK USJ
8 Ke-4". Taking a deep breath, the marching out of the field soon begun.
Quickly moving, all the contestant marched out of the field and stopped in
front of the tents prepared for them.
After marching, scouts had a little meeting at their "tent" (which
was a little bus stop). They were relieved at the end of the hot and burning
experience. The scouts took a few pictures before the teachers announced
of those who are running to get ready. MKKP Wong Joe Yee, took her leave as she
was one of the runners and MKKP Sean Wong Ryui Zyen left for Ping Pong MSSD and
MKKP Jeremy Danker went back to his Quarter Master duties. While the three
MKKPs went for their own business, the other scouts hanged around the bus stop
and behind a trailer and around the field, waiting to be called for marching.
After taking a rest, playing around and quenching their thirst, scouts and the
other marching contestants went back on the field for the closing ceremony and
award giving ceremony. MKKP Jeremy Danker left his Quarter Master duties and
joined the marching. Even with MKKP Wong Joe Yee and Wong Ryui Zyen out of the
marching troop, the scouts spirits never faded nor dampened. Still full
of energy and full of spirit, the scouts marched in to the field as great as
they were in the opening ceremony. After reaching the field, the sun was still
up and burning. With a little sympathy from the teachers, the marching
contestants were allowed to sit. Tired and all sweaty, scouts had a little
assistance from their sisters, Pandu Puteri, to provide them drinks. Even with
the hot weather, the scouts still were full of energy and silently joked and
played around. Marching Commander, Adrian Tan and Assistant Troop Leader, Kevin
Cheong, played a little message passing game with the MKKPs and other COH
members becoming the messenger.
While playing and joking, teachers were awarding our school’s athletes medals.
MKKP Joe Yee won gold medals for 100m, 200m, 400m and 4 by 100m and MKKP Wong
Ryui Zyen won a gold medal for tarik tali and a bronze medal for 800m. Scouts
felt proud of their members winning medals and they cheered with pride. After
other students were awarded with medals, the time came for the "Award for
Best Marching". Scouts waited patiently as teachers announced that Kadet
Bomba won third place. Scouts crossed their fingers and prayed and held their
breathes. Slowly, teachers announced that in second place, SCOUTS! All the
scouts yelled and hooted. Receiving order from MKKP Jeremy Danker, they did
"tepuk semangat" and later with an order from ATL, Kevin Cheong, the
scouts did their "tepuk semangat" louder and in addition of more
spirit. Marching commander Adrian Tan and "sepanduk" holder Phang Tha
Ming walked up to the podium proudly and took a bunch of silver medals. Walking
back to the ecstatic scout members, marching commander Adrian Tan took a sniff
of victory and showed the medals to the rest of the scouts. The scouts cheered
and cheered while getting glances and glares from Kadet Remaja Sekolah. Even
though they didn't get first place, but all their hard work and all their
practices paid off.
After getting permission from the teachers to stand up, the scouts stood up and
went to their ex-troop leader, Wong Ryui Bynn, who was there watching them
proudly. After taking a group picture, taking back his post as Troop leader for
a few minutes, Ryui Bynn chanted the chant he taught them and they followed
loudly and proudly. After that, they went to take their things and head to
Burger King Taipan to celebrate the victory. Victory was sweet but what they
were about o find out was not sweet yet bitter. Reaching to their bus stop, the
scouts were hit by bad news of things missing. One-by-one the scouts reported
and exclaimed loudly of their missing items. Everyone was shocked and angry. As
everyone was searching for their things around the field and in the drains,
MKKP Sean Wong Ryui Zyen and Junior Christopher Felix arrived after their Ping
Pong MSSD. They arrived to see sad and irritated faces. After a while of
searching and reporting it to the teachers, the scouts made a decision to still
go to Burger King. At Burger King, everyone sat there sad and a little angry.
Scouts that lost their item were seen clutching on to their medals and sighing.
After awhile, the scouts shrugged the problem off and just enjoyed themselves. After
all, what's done is done. There was nothing they could do. Forgetting about
their missing items, the scouts had a blast, eating and chatting all the way.
Marching commander, Adrian Tan, made a retirement speech that was replied with
a cheer and a promise of getting gold medal next year from his fellow juniors.
After cheering and much more laughs and yells at the top floor of Burger King,
the scouts went their seperate ways home.
This whole experience let us know one thing. 132 will forever be together, in
bad time or in good times. We are like one big family and will always stay that
way.
26th May
The day all scouts that signed up were waiting for. We arrived early at school for some last minute packing in our school's 'Bilik Kaunseling'. After finishing, we heaved our heavy haversacks on our backs and headed downstairs for our 'upacara penyampaian bendera' before heading off towards our destination-Gunung Ledang.
WHhen we got down, all of us gathered at the ruang legar and marched halfway out the tapak perhimpunan. Troop Leader Lim Guat Yee proudly marched out towards Pn.Cheng, our school's PK HEM. who gave our troop's flag to her. After KRS and our future PKP/KP received each of their flags respectively, we gathered at the ruang legar for a last 'taklimat' before boarding our bus.
After we boarded the bus and sat down comfortably, some of us plugged our MP3's and CD plaer's earphones into our ears while others joked and played around as we entertained ourselevs throughout the ride towards Johor. At around 11 A.M we reached aplace where we were given a short 'taklimat' by one of the workers there and picking up our guides for our trip to the top there,we headed towards the foot of Gunung Ledang.
Once there, we had to walk on foot towards a resort to do some log of our stuff. After frustratingly un-packing and packing our bags again,we ate up our lunch of chicken rice provided for us before starting our epic journey
When we started, it started with steps but soon came the dirt road, Eventhough most of us were tired, when we reached the first checkpoint, those who reached first placed their haversacks down and ran back to help others who were still lagging behind. When everyone was there,we took a short break before continuing.
Soon,in the middle of the hike, we split up into groups. Halfway there, it started raining, making the dirt road slippery and muddy. Having no time to stop and put on rain coats, we trekked on,hoping for signs of our campsite. With our haversacks stinging and bruising our shoulders, we walked carefully, since the rain was making our trek slippery and we had no grip. After what seemed like hours, we spotted our campsite. Unfortunately, since it was raining, we couldn't pitch camp. After awhile, the rain let up a little, so under a roughly made shelter,we pitched camp and after a skimpy dinner, all of us slept.
27th May
The next day, all of us woke up freezing and shivering, but excited, for today was the day we are going to conquer Ledang. After breakfast, with our guides to lead us, we trekked on. The trail this time though, was though. Some of us ran out of water during a treak which the Ledang authorities dubbed Killer Feet Climbers (KFC) while others panted and fell back. When we reached a place called taman bonzai at the end of KFC, all of us rested for about 5 minutes and called home for reception there was great. After getting our breaths back,we continued our journey.
Once we reached a place called Bukit Botak, we refilled out now-empty water bottles and quenched our parched throats. Replenishing done, we continued our trek,Spurred on by our guide's words that we were almost there.
When we reached the peak, we felt that all our efforts were worth it. The view was breathtaking and all of us started grinning. Wasting no time, we ate our packed lunches and celebrated and took pictures. After about 30 minutes at the peak, we started our journey back to base camp. The journey wasn't as bad going back down, but certain people couldn't take it as they were tired and we were thankful when we reached base camp.
At base camp, we cleaned and bathed at the stream next to our campsite, keeping an eye out for the snakes the teachers warned us about. Splashing each other and teasing,we finally climbed out and changed into fresh clothes and started preparing dinner. After our dinner, finishing our can foods. We packed our clothes and stuff back into our haversakcs in preparation for the journey back down before going to bed.
But,in the middle of the night, thunder clashe, lightning flashed and torrents of rain fell, flooding out tents. Unnerved, we slept, exhausted by the day's events
28th May
The day we go home, and most of us can't wait fr our warm comfortable beds and home cooked meals. After packing up, at about 9 A.M we started our journey home. Though it was going down and much easier, we still lagged, because of certain people who had injuries like blisters or sprain ankle or legs. Halfway down, yet again, we had to split up, but unnerved,we continued on in groups. Not long after, we spotted the resort where we first started from, practically flying down, we threw our hevay haversacks down and after the guides finsihed checking out stuff, some of us went to bathe in the nearby waterfall while the rest went to take a proper bathes in the toilets. After cleanig up and refreshed, we ate the chicken rice provided for us before boarding the bus back home.
On the bus, En.Noraizam informed us that us scouts were going to receive 3 certificates for our hard work. Ecstatic, we cheered and hooted, and some of us demanded the story that apparently our campsite had. Told by En.Noraizam, apparently, next to our campsite was a 'kampung orang bunian'. 'Orang Bunian' were some unseen spirits that roamed about at night. Speechles for a moment. we soon resumed our chattering. After stopping by for some snacks, the group behind and our Urusetia's in front ahd some kind of battle with some of us stuck in the middle. With their joking and playfully whacking each other up, the whole bus of us laughed non-stop.
When we reached our final destination-our schhol. Most of us went to Maju Maju for a celebration while the rest of us headed back home. This trip has shown us alot of things. How much we care for each other, our loyalty with each other, 132's helpfulness for each and everyone of us, and most of all our deep friendship we have. No matter what. 132 will always stay together, strong and united as one.
