Silver Circle Miniatures

"Small in Size..... .....Big in Quality"

G'day Everyone,

Firstly i'd like to thank you for visiting our website.  We have had a major overhaul over the last few months & weeks with the sale of many horses, purchases and a change to our website.

I've thought about how to start our news page off with many ideas, but have decided to start from this years foaling season to now and then each month i'll update the page if there is any news.  I will definitely let everyone know if there is anything new to report on our home page with a "Newsflash"!!

We can be thankful that we have not had a problem with EI here in SA.  It has only affected me because the week before the first known case, I purchased a high % pure arabian mare from Sydney.  Even though the crisis has eased somewhat, we still don't know when she will or if she will come over here to SA.

September 2007 - January 2008

September 2007 - didn't start off too well.  Sadly we lost one of our beautiful broodmares, "Ridgey Didge Angel In Disguise" due to a malpresentation during foaling.  Unfortunately we lost both of them.  RIP Angel, you're truly missed.

October 2007 - This month saw the birth of our first 'live' foal.  As my mares approach their foaling dates (approx 6 - 8 weeks before), they are stabled at night (6m x 6m with plenty of room to move) and out through the day.  Ridge Didge My Sharona was coming along nicely with about a week or so to go.  We had had a party for our neighbour at our place on a Saturday night, so on Sunday, well lets just say, I wasn't feeling too bright.  The neighbours came back on Sunday night for left overs & nibbles, so I asked Tiffani if she could get Sharona in and feed her some hay.  A little later that evening after Doug & Luke left, I was preparing to feed our latest little of Border Collie pups, when I heard one of the horses calling out.  I thought i'd feed the pups first and then head out to check what the problem was.  While waiting for the pups biscuits to soak, I sat down to watch a little TV, and completely forgot about the horse, that was until I went out to feed the pups, and thought then that I better head straight down there.  As I approached the stables there was a damp little baby standing by itself with mum a couple of gates apart.  No great dramas, both mum & bub were reunited, and all was well.  We have named the colt Silver Circle Bey Cruesayda and we are pretty sure he is a buckskin, but may be bay.  I guess time will tell.

November 2007 - Not much new to report.  Sharona & Cruz joined the herd this month.  This colt is sooooo full of himself, Dee is really pleased at night that she gets some rest.

December 2007 - Dee (TA D'Ripley), our Grulla mare is due to foal either this month or January 2008.  She has started to thicken in the udder, so we have decided to bring her in at night.  We are not absolutely sure of her due date, so its best to be on the safe side.  We would like to wish everyone a Very Merry & Safe Christmas for 2007.

January 2008 - HAPPY NEW YEAR to one & all!!!!!  Dee foaled a beautiful Dunalino (Palomino + Dun) filly on the 21st.  I am absoultely wrapped with this filly, as we have decided to take a break with the minis, and she is what I have wanted for quite a few years now.  We have named her Silver Circle D'LaQuita (aka Kita).  For those that don't understand the colours and how we got it i'll give a brief explanation.........Dee is a Grulla (black based Dun) and she was bred to our palomino palouse stallion Neon Xtreme (Bobby).  Dee passed on the dun gene and Bobby passed on the cream gene.  There is also a slight possibility that she may also be palouse, which wasn't really a request, but a bonus to her already wonderful colour.

1st February - 17th February 2008 - Kita is coming along nicely, and has now also joined the herd with mum Dee.  Bess got a little over protective with them both, even trying to keep us from bringing them in at night.  We had Rose, Belle & Cruz branded.  That went well & it was lovely to have Carol & her husband Mark up to do it for us.  This past week we decided to wean Cruz, as he is really starting to bring Sharona down with his demand.  He has turned out to be a lovely boy with an exquisite head, lovely length of neck and refined & straight legs.  Once I find my battery charger, i'll add some pics.  We will run him on as a colt for the time being to see how he comes up.  We have also decided to breed arabian ponies as well as purebred arabians.  We have secured a lovely pure polish arabian colt from Carol Hore's stud Coolinda Park.  His name is Coolinda Park Kolczyk, and once I get permission, i'll add some pics of him for all to see.  We will also be leasing (with option to buy) a Welsh sectB mare from Michelle Perry of Tailem Bend, SA.  She has a colt foal on her who we are also leasing by the sucessful sire Salient Master Bronze from Lia Blacketts, Wynara Stud at Wynarka, SA.  We look forward to their arrival in the second half of the month.  Pics will be added once they arrive.  It has been a busy month, and with the weather warming up again, that ought to slow it down!!
