Maya at Crufts 2012:

What the judges say about Maya:

"Very promising basenji baby.  Full of breed type with beautiful head and expression.  Her side gait was very impressive with fast free action and can see why from her breeding."

Nick Gourley, Ashfield Open Show 2009

"A very well put together youngster who kept the most stunning outline whilst on the move.... Showed herself off to every advantage"

Mr R Newhouse, Junior Stakes, Leeds 2009

"Eyecatching for her overall elegance, femininity and breed type... excellent length of leg and body proportions, good topline, very good tail set and curl.  Moves so smoothly and soundly with daisy cutting action and postively both coming and going, could watch her move all day"

Ms K Ellis, Basenji Owners & Breeders Assoc 2009

"... most enchanting tricolour. Exquisite type and she has certainly got mums magnetism as she moves around the ring.  I loved her size, weight of bone, degree of refinement in head, that reach of neck, the well developed ribcage and her gleaming coat.  She was kept in to the last few for the BCC and i fully expect her to go right to the top."

Albert Wight, Basenji Club of Great Britian.

"Absolutely stunning, this tri just asked for top honours, with superb sound and postive movement and excellent topline".

Mrs A Webster, Best Puppy in Show, Leicester CA 2009

"Nicely balanced overall, pleasing head and expression, good neck and forehand, nice feet, body maturing well with strong loin, sound rear, smart mover with good tail carriage".

Mrs Ann Arch, Birmingham National Championship Show 2010

"Tricolour bitch that was really in a class of her own here.  Very stylish moving bitch".

Mrs Lesley Chalmers, Southern Counties Championship Show 2010

"This tri basenji gets more like her mother each time I see her.  Today in top form, glided around the ring displaying power and style.  In this form must get her title".

Mr Albert Wight, Bath Championship Show 2010

"Elegant tri bitch, strong well crested neck and good head carriage, correctly set on and hooded ears, reasonable amount of wrinkle, well laid shoulders, deep chest and strong loin, curled high set tail, moderate bend of stifle and good curve of buttock, skin very pliant, free stridin mover, straight and true. Res CC".

Mrs Isobell Dyke, Blackpool Championship Show 2010

"Tri bitch of excellent proportions, lovely head, dark almond eyes, correct earset, good front with adequate width, nice reach of neck, level topline, well let down, good tailset and good shelf, moved really well"

Mr Malcolm Gibson, Redditch Open Show May 2010

Maya came home Saturday 31st January 2009.  She is our very first basenji, and what a litter to get a pup from!!  Her mum Millie is a dog we have admired from the ringside for a long time, she is the breed record holder with 38 CCs and in March 2010 won her 5th consecutive Best of Breed at Crufts.  Mayas's dad Riley was made up very soon after arriving in the UK and was the top sire in 2009.

We cant thank Trish and Dee (Tokaji) enough for allowing us to have this beautiful baby, and also Sue of Klassics Basenjis in America.  Maya is a real dream come true and exactly what i've always wanted - a stunning tri baby!!

Maya has had wonderful success at Championship and Open Show level.  She has had numerous breed and stakes class wins in Championship Shows, including winning her class at Cruft 2010.  She has won Best in Show at Open Show Level and was Group 4 at South Wales Championship Show!
