Welcome to Silhouette German Shepherds and Norwegian Elkhounds home on the web. We are located in beautiful western Washington, Rochester, Washington. Silhouette German Shepherds and Norwegian Elkhounds is only a short 1.5 hour drive from Seattle or a two hour drive from Portland.
We only keep a limited amount of dogs. All of our dogs are house dogs and family pets. You will not find kennels here as all of our dogs enjoy their day to day lives with us. We welcome visitors to visit us on the web and at our home. We hope that you will enjoy these magnificent animals as much as we do.
Here, we believe that training as well as character development and socialization starts from the very beginning. Therefore, we dont breed our dogs very often. Every breeding that we do is years in the making to combine the best genetics. We always breed for temperment and health first. All dogs are hip and elbow certified. Several also have heart, eye, and/or thyroid certifications. O
ur dogs ancestry contain some of the most well known and sought after bloodlines containing GV, GVX, Sel CH, as well as obedience and working titles.
Our history in German Shepherds goes back a long time. My parents are also hobby breeders of this wonderful breed, which is where I acquired the love and devotion for the German Shepherd Dog. The original foundation of our lines was a Stockbroker daughter out of Pam O'Dell's famous foundation bitch, Norberge's Ammilora McKendree. Still to this day we can see many traits carried on from our beloved Kira. Over the years, we added different pedigrees into our breeding program to make our dogs the best that they could be.
Silhouette German Shepherds just recently aquired its first Norwegian Elkhound. As a child, this was my very first dog. Lots of research was put into finding the perfect puppy to become part of a legacy. In 2008, Cali came home to live with me. She has proven to be an excellant and exciting addition to the family.
We also have had great success in the obedience and show rings. To date we have achieved an American Select Champion, multiple American Champions, multiple International Champions, a Group Placements, a Sweepstakes Winner, and Futurity/Maturity Placements. Here in the Pacific Northwest, we dont have as many shows as other areas and many times we have to travel great distances to get too them. Therefore, we dont get to attend as many venues as some other kennels.
