 The Southern Illinois Jedi Order began on January 6, 2007.  It was founded by fans for the fans.  S.I.J.O  was started with the first meeting at the leaders home, and 7 members attending.  The first "official meeting" we had 20 people show up.  Our goal is to have fun enjoying Star Wars while helping local charities.  It all started as a way that local star wars fans could come together and discuss movies, books, have lightsaber duals, and just have fun in general.  Then we discovered that due to the huge popularity of star wars that we could use that to help local community charities.   We dress up for movie showings, comic conventions, and many other events.  But when it all comes down to it, we just enjoy being a group, and doing what we love best. Being Snerds.(star wars nerds) .

   We welcome everyone, and we are a family oriented group.  We have no members dues or fees,  so there is no pressure or obligation. Costuming is not a requirement of this club, but we do encourage it for those that want to.  So please come join us for lots of fun and excitement.
