Southern Interior & Cascades

My attempts at weathering some of my engines and rolling stock

A Proto 1000 BL1, was in the Dead Bin,Installed all new gears,Cleaned Motor, Commutator as well as Brushes, Detailed with Washes and Pastels.

My CN RS-3 a Proto 2000 switcher,A light wash of 4 to1 Alcohol and dry brush

with Burnt Umber.

BC Hydro SW 900\1200 Switcher a Proto 2000 unit,Dusted with ground up Charcol stick and brushed on with a dry Brush,Tank and trucks dry brushed with burnt umber.

A " Roundhouse" Great Northern 50' Steel Box car, Washed twice with Indy\Alky wash, Doors received some damage and were rusted up with Burnt Sienna,added small rust streaks and rust on all the door runners,couplers and Trucks washed with Burnt Umber and Water.

A Roundhouse Kit,was unbuilt,added Metal wheels and Kadee #5 couplers,  light fade of the script,washed 2 times with Alky\Ink mix trucks and couplers washed in Burnt Umber

50' New Haven Steel Box car,Body mounted couplers added,Metal wheels added,sanded with 1200 grit sandpaper,Ink wash and powders ubbed on,added a couple Primered repair area's on this one,couplers and Trucks weathered with a light burnt Umber.

A Weathered Drop Center added new Decals,Damaged Gussets and Deck,finished with Washes and Powders.

This is the opposite side of the same Railbox on my home page,this was Sanded with 1200 Grit sandpaper,and washed with a very Dilluted White wash to bring out the Sun faded effect,Som primered fix spots were added and a little bit of Graffitti and some repoting marks,then rubbed down with a Burnt Umber powder and weathered the wheels and Trucks.

CN 50' Steel Box Car, Metal wheels added as well as Kadee #5 couplers,4 ink\Alki washes and finished with Pastels and charcol powder.

An Athen BB CP Rail Refer, Burnt Umber for the rust spots pulled down by a damp brush,washed in 4-1 Alky & India Ink mix, Script lettering faded with Pencil eraser over the same spot slowly until decal fades,finished off with Charcol powder brushed on.

Proto 1000 52' PGE Drop end Gon, done with 4-1 Alky & India Ink Mix,couplers and trucks dry brushed with Burnt Umber,Load is weatherd wheels I have replaced with metal ones on my rolling stock,did 4 of these.

Old Roundhouse kit a BCR 40' Box car, Light over spray Flat Grey, 4-1 Alky & India ink wash, couplers were changed to Body mount #5's Kadee's,Couplers & trucks Burnt umber and Charcol powder mix, Metal wheels added.

Arco Covered hopper,Ink Wash and Chalks.

Dupont covered hopper, Ink Wash, Chalks & Powders as well as some graffitti.

Sask Minerals Coverd hopper, all done with pastels and charcole,no Ink Wash.

older Roundhouse kit,weathered with Ink Wash and charcol powder, have not heard of this line before.
