We have retained James aka SHUNRA AHKENATEN, by Saliken Scobie out of Whatmore Kani Sai Miss Hilton as a future stud prospect. This photo was taken at 9 weeks of age, and we are hoping the promise he is showing so far continues on. Hayden named him James after the Red Steam Engine in Thomas the Tank Engine.
He is a sweet little fellow, and as usual, Paris has done me proud in raising his litter.
At his first show, he behaved like an angel. The temperament of his father scobie shone through like you wouldnt beleive and he did me proud. He was not phased by other cats or being handled by the stewards and judges at all, and was placed 4th in the Burmese kittens best of breed classing in the second round of judging. At 15 weeks old I did not expect him to do so well, I was just hoping for him to behave himself!!! I really did not expect to be bringing home a Reserve best kitten ribbon for this little fellow. He was quite content to sleep through it all while he wasnt being handled, and when he was he purred away like a little engine. I have taken him to show twice since the first one, and he is still doing me proud and is placing either first or second in his age classes. I only hope he can continue this when he gets into the adult classes.
UPDATE 1-07-07 In ways he reminds me a lot of my first burmese Slim, his incessant need to be with you a major factor in this. He is the sort of cat who loves to be cuddled, and is like a boomerang and always comes back when you put him down. This is my dream boy, i always wanted a brown stud of my own, and he has his first litter arriving in just over a months time. James has been doing well at show so far, and at just over 1 year old has acheived his Champion. I am hoping to keep this boy out and about this year, so hopefully he will continue to do well for me.
UPDATE- 22-11-07 James is now officially a working boy. He currently has four litters to his name, in which he has sired some stunning kittens. I will post some photos of his progeny for you shortly. Unfortunately his one litter for ourselves has resulted in a ceaser for mum and a singleton litter, but these are the trials and tribulations of breeding. The other three litters he has sired are all to queens at Ariadne cattery, totalling 16 kittens all up, and boy are they thriving and gorgeous to boot. Hopefully, 2008 will be a better year for us at home here, and will see some beautiful Shunra babes sired by this smooch of a man. He has had three lilac girls to him so far and has thrown lilac, blue, chocolate and brown. Our singleton litter was to a red female, and the kitten in this litter i think is cream but as yet i think it is still to early to tell.
James will be at stud available to approved Queens upon inspection of pedigree. Should you wish to enquire about James at stud, please feel free to do so, but please note- As we beleive in early desexing, All pet kittens that arise from matings with our studs MUST BE DESEXED prior to sale.

Saliken Scobie has returned to Shunra Burmese after a three year absence, and the way things are right now, he is here to stay. Scobie was the first stud we ever had the pleasure of keeping here, and as he was then, he is quite the smooch, and will once again become an assett to our breeding program. Scobie is the father of our James, and Shunra Tia Maria, and the Granfather of our Ushibubba, and was the great Grandfather of DBGDCH Shunra Tequila Sunrise. He may not be a show cat himself, but he certainly throws some beautiful kittens with excellent temperaments who can either be shown or breed some amazing show babies themselves.
More information in regards to Scobie and his return to us here will be uploaded in the next few weeks.
