Welcome to our website. Shunra Burmese cattery, is owned and run by Cherie and her children Hayden 7, and Jordy 4. We are a small cattery, consisting of 2 working studs, and a few queens to keep each boy happy. We are located in Berwick Victoria, and are registered with the Governing Council of the Cat Fancy of Victoria.
For pets we also have a spey Tonkinese female named Dusty, who has come to us after being through four homes previous, and she is here to stay with us. We also have a semi longhair tortie tabby and white domestic female cat named Dora The Explorer that we show as a spey in group 4. I fell in love with the Burmese breed 10 years ago with the purchase of my first burmese Slim. He was a brown neuter and unfortunately had health problems and i lost him at the age of three. If it wasn't for him and the way he loved us all i wouldn't be where i am now.
Cherie is also a member with Companion Cat Club, which is devoted to Cats from all walks of life, not just pedigreed cats and kittens. Companion Cat Club sponsors a cage at The Australian Animal Protection Society ( Keysborough Animal Shelter), which is for the benefit of senior cats to have a better chance at finding a new lease of life through the shelters adoption program. To visit the shelter and find out more about what they do, please visit http://www.aaps.org.au/
In the last 2 years I have also gone into miniature horse and ponies with a long time family friend, Angela, and are currently registering our ponies with the Australian Miniature Horse and Pony Registry. This little pipe dream is still in its early stages, though our love for horses had had me involved in owning and showing of them on a very small scale for around ten years, and Angela since she was about 4 years of age. Growing up i got my first pony at 15 when i got my first job, and by 17 i was occasionally involved in showing shetlands with Angela and her family. We also have a small show team consisting of some Welsh Mountain Section A ponies, and an Australian Pony Part Bred. We are currently working out our breed mares and the like, and as such we currently have some ponies for sale, these guys and gals are listed on our ponies for sale page, other stock may be made available from time to time.
I am also a Rep for Equine Care Group, as Australia wide not for profit organisation who take in abused, neglected and unwanted horses and ponies. A link to the Equine Care Group site is posted on our links page, please drop in there and have a look at who we are and what we do.
Some of the photos you will see on our site have been taken by Gayle Knowles, from Traralgon Victoria, who is wonderful photographer, and the proud mother of Sophie and Bruno, who are pictured on our links page. A big thank you goes out to Gayle for sending us the photos, and of course for allowing us to use them on our website. We also have a link on our links page to Gayle's site Shot to Shot, which displays more of her fantastic work.
As you can plainly see, we are a bunch of avid animal lovers here, and are striving towards the goal of being able to enjoy our pets to the best of our ability, and also be able to produce some amazing offspring, wether they be for pet, breeding or showing.
