Welcome to the home of the 1994 Scott Highlanders. On this site you will find the historical record of the accomplishments of the '94 squad.

Week 1:

Claiborne County

Week 1 saw the state ranked (9th) Highlanders defeat the Blue Devils by scoring 42 points. The Highlander defense pitched a season opening shut out for the home crowd.

Week 2:

McCreary County

Scott traveled across the Kentucky state line to hand the Raiders a decisive punishment. The Highlanders scored 37 points in less than two quarters to gain their second consecutive victory of the young season, while gaining another shut out. 

Week 3:

Lenoir City

The Lenoir City Panthers had high hopes of gaining an edge over fellow region opponents, but that was quickly put to rest as the Highlanders exploded to score 51 points. 

Week 4:

Harriman

Harriman brought an impressive team to Highlander stadium. The eventual state runner-up Blue Devils boasted such athletes as Jermaine Copeland who was a University of Tennessee signee and eventual professional football player. Harriman handed Scott their first loss of the season. 

Week 5:

Loudon

The eventual 2nd place finisher for Region 2 AAA rolled into Scott County to seek revenge for a 1993 28-0 loss to the Highlanders. The Redskins handed Scott their second loss of the season in route to their second place crown.

Week 6:

Campbell County

The Highlander defense found themselves back on track this week as they held Campbell County to only 96 total yards, but as fait would have it the Highlanders fell to the Cougars by a mere 1 point. Loosing 21-20. 

Week 7:

Livingston Academy

The Highlanders found themselves in a desperate situation- needing a region victory to once again secure a playoff bid. Future Tennessee Vol Tom Windle felt he could hand Scott a loss and secure his team a playoff spot, but the Highlander defense intercepted Windle four times. Scott's offense rolled off more than 180 yards rushing and 21 total points. Scott was in the TSSAA state playoffs and setting with a 4-3 record. 

Week 8:

Fulton

Win number 5 came against a heavily favored Fulton Falcon team that featured all- staters such as Scott Richardson. Scott scored 14 points and shut out the explosive Falcon offense.

Week 9:

York Institute

Homecoming found the Highlanders facing a York team that raced to a 21-0 victory in 1993. The '94 squad had a different plan for the match up. The Highlander offense found their nitch and exploded for 47 points. This victory set the stage for the 1994 Region title game against #1 ranked Kingston.

Week 10:

Kingston

For the first time since 1984 the Highlanders found themselves vying for a Region title. Scott fell early by 13 points, but rallied to lead the Jackets 15-13 with less than 4 minutes remaining. The Jackets earned their state ranking and their region title by driving 70 yards in the closing minutes to give the spectators a thrilling conclusion. Kingston finished 10-0.

Week 11:

Tyner

For the second consecutive season the Highlanders were in the State Playoffs. Scott traveled to Chattanooga to face a favored Tyner squad. Scott finished the first ever playoff victory in school history by defeating the Rams 19-12.

Week 12:

Knox West

The second round of the TSSAA state playoffs pitted Scott against the Knox West Rebels. Scott was sensational at the on set scoring two quick touchdowns in the first quarter. The Rebels would eventually defeat Scott 22-18 in a game that saw 5 lead changes. This concluded a fabulous season by the Highlanders which lost only 5 games, 3 of which by an average of  less than 3 points.

Post Season Honors

Post season honorees included Daniel Smith All State, All East Tennessee, & All Region, Mark Longmire All State, All East Tennessee, & All Region, Jason Jeffers All Region, and Andy Newport All Region
