Jammy (Below)

Jammys Log:
Well the weekend was tiring, windy, fun, smokey and painful for carls balls. On saturday i rolled into the car park knackered, to meet carl and his dad. I had just rode from great ayton and was just about ready to die. We quickly put up the tent around the other caravans and tents and headed up to get signed on.
On doing so we met Edd Thompsett, dave and chris. Who were all buzzing about the fact that there was a race on at their local course. Me and carl quickly got signed on and then got onto the uplift. We got up onto the top of the course and you could tell it was pretty pedally. But still onwards and downwards. Chris Jackson from Fox Clothing UK joined us, and was ready to ride, we set off, i went down first, chris in second and carl bringing up the rear. For a first run i thought i would push my luck and see what the course was really like, all was going well until you hit the second double, leading into a friggin dusty berm.
I hit this full pelt and went right over the bars, only to be met by bullhead, mo, jake, wilko and the other whitby lot pissing themselves. This was the first time i had seen alot of them in a couple of weeks. I gathered myself and stood on the edge of a berm talking to them and before i knew it chris came flying by, that was fine. Then carl comes past and slides out on the berm too! Headbutting my bike and sending me 10 foot down the side of the hill. It wasnt a good start at all.
For the rest of the day we both shuffled round the hill sectioning the course and getting to know it better. As the course started to empty, we went and got something to eat, only to go back up the hill and practice with a few other hardcore riders. This was all going well until i pushed carl a little to far on one of the path gaps. Over the bars he went, tank slapping the stem, the next few minutes consisted of mainly carl rolling around on the floor. At one point i thought his dick might of come off. I thought about looking for it on the floor but decided not too.
More to come

DVD

The preview of the DVD is now available, its called northern bastards and has a compilation of riders from around the area, some well known courses and some private ones in there. Ask me(jammy) for a copy.....

Wykeham

April the 5th-6th we will be riding at wykeham, for two days with some guys from preston, so give us a bell if you are interested too

3xB

BigxBikexBash

Now, some time during march i think... We are going to Wykeham forest for a BIG BIKING BASH. While there we will be meeting up with some riders from Preston who ride wykeham when ever they can. So if your up for it we will be going up. As of yet i may be able to take some riders up there in my big spookey band wagon, but its not definate yet. While there as well as doing numerous runs i will be filming for another section of the movie, so if you want in you better show. I am going to speak to tom(preston tom, not our tom) to confirm everything, so keep an eye on this page if you want to ride!

The Rigg

Yesterday me and mr Tommy decided to shake off the ole' winter blues and stretch our legs with a ride up to the rigg to have a few runs on the stupidly big rock garden on the far side of the trail/ footpath. I arrived at tommy's for 10:30am and immediately on arrival my balls shrunk to the size of chick peas. We decided to retreat back into the house and look at bikes on descent-world. After about 15mintues of this we decided we better make the most of the still day and brave the frosty morn, while pushing up we talked about various different things mainly bikes and women, but one thing stood out from the rest, the fact that we would be taming an incredibally steep rocky piste on hardtails, thus bringing about a debate about how when i eventually fix the intense n tommy get's his commencal we will be smoother riders, which i thought to be good, although thinking about it now me being on a hardtail is on hell of a learning curve, because this hardtail is my first, since i started riding i have always had a full suss so i had alot to learn. Eventually we tamed the climb up the rocks after meeting a bloke and his daughter who seemed a bit confused as to why we wanted to do it, but put a smile on his face and said 'you got no one up here today, it should be good'. As we sat up on the top deciding who would be first to go down, there was a perfeeeect view of the course 'fuck me it's brutal' i thought out loud, so i set tommy off first, yeash i can be a pussy, so tom wizzed off and i followed, the first section compromises of plasma screen t.v sized boulders which are set out so that even if you dont want speed you get it, joy! I follow chasing tom shouting pedal bitch pedal all the way down until the course opens up a bit after a particularly rocky section where tom lost his footing, here i over take him an speed off woooooaaaw fuck me you pick speed up here, i had only ridden here once previous, so i was not expecting the next few lines which basically make you crash or get through, out of 3 lines all strewn over each other interlinking there is only one which sets you up for the next section without being sketchy, i did not see this because its a bastard to turn into so i took the main line which looks obvious. Only to find that it curves sharply right over some football sized rocks, i went full pelt into them only to be knocked up into the air, i can correct myself i thought as i came into land, BANG CRUNCH OH FUCK, i nose dived into a randomly placed rock and fell off the side of the bike into another rock. After lots of rolling around on the floor laughing and ouching, we push back up and decide that we will have a few more runs down, once back up at the top i am voted to go down first, great, this time we both go alot faster with no crashes great!!! Our final run before we go get lunch, i follow tom down this time giving us some space to breath, we make it to the final rock section before tommy rag dolls out of control spinning 180 degrees of the bike and into a rock, fuck that looks painfull, i run up to him to see if he is okay, yeah just shaken. We then call it a day at the rigg and head home to get some food and then head off to canton hill for a few runs, a great day, which is why YOU should ride in winter!

Tommy Flies high, jammy eats shit

The Start Of a Long Weekend
Early on satruday morning i lifted my dreary head up from under my pillow as my alarm went off, not wanting to get up i rolled around unrestful for a couple on minutes then realised the time 9:00, oh shit, the lift is gonna be here soon, got to get ready, i was supposed to be meeting andy and tom in danby at 10:30 but got there at 11:00 due to my slow natured getting ready and other goings on, when we eventually arrived at hamsterley, i thought to myself, ahh back home, while i waited for tom and andy to get the arses into gear i wizzed around the car park skidding around and just generally avoiding them so i didnt have to help them with their kit, when we eventually got to the course, the mouths of my two counter parts dropped so low they could have easily fitted a train through, so i first tell them to take it slow, this course to me is very special and i know it like the back of my hand so immediatly i rushed off down the course leaving them tow trailing, this was at my own perril because i did not know that the last section of the course had been change, which is where the first crash of the weekend happened, although i didnt tell andy or tom out of the fear they would destroy me, after pushing back up the course i told them that i would split it into two halves, so they would have less to concentrate on, so after a few runs on the first section i thought the boys could do with a break, really because i couldnt stand up, we rode down the course and when we reached the bottom smiles were wide and eyes were bright, they had both seemed to concore the course! so i decided that we should have a mess around on the dual for a bit, this was great fun, with all the sloshy mud and grit, after a few runs and me nearly beheading myself, we decided it was time to go and get some full runs of the 4x course in.
to be continued

The continuation (writen by tom tho, not jammy :P )

We all arise looking resonably groggy on sunday morning, and cursing the wind. We get ready and pile into the car, and set off for the track. In morning practise there was loads of hype, despite the shitty weather people were still buzzing to and fro. We decided to polish up on the tables ( which pay off for me, see my little section ). Then the rythem sections, which we soon have dialled to the best we can in the conditions. As we push up the nurmerous times we hear other riders discussing whos goin to take the win, and numerous times i hear " that guy on the saracen looks well fast" or " watch out for that kid on the saracen ". Even in the hut we hear people talking about jammy. We gather up our plates and have a few practise runs on the first straight. Before we knew it the event was underway. Jammy and me get sorted into the same moto, with some guy, i forget his name now, i refer to him as some guy. Jammy takes first, me second ahead of that random guy by a decent ammount. We find hear say that finished third in his first moto (probably because he was drawn against some of the best riders there :P ).  We arrive at the top and theres no one in sight, bar the starter. So we end up racing in the same group of three, in the same finishing positions. i dont know where andy finished in his second moto. Once again we end up in the same group of three, in the same places too. roll on the next rounds, although they wernt as expected, any how, i come second in both of mine, jammy gets a second and then crashed out in the semis (AGAIN ) then its me in the final, i get into third on the first straight, and hold onto it for a podium :oD

a good day was had, despite the weather!

Well i didwrite the article up last night and it was rrrreeeal good, but then my computer crashed, so once again from the top!...

Next Weekend

next weekend descend hamsterley are holding their first round 4x race of the season after the triumph the nps had there. Tommy Caffry the race virgin, Andy Folwes the speed demon and me, jammy, will all be going up to compete in the junior section, and lets put it one way, we are all excited and shitting it at the same time. Named the fastest course on the nps after just 2 rounds hamsterley has already taken its fair toll of casualties, me being one of them at least 4 times.

The Recipe for a fucking fast course

As you sit on top of the imensily high roll in, you are thrown straight in at the deep end, firstly into a 10ft table top followed by one of 15-20ft maybe? from here you pedal your tits off up into a step up, into the first flowy bit, positioning is crucial here as this is usually were the race is decided, going round the swooping berm you hit a step down into a table top, here you pedal down a second down slope into a step up to step down, keeping the inside line is a must because this is the last place other riders will be able to over take you. here we go round a flat turn into a small step up, pedalling once more to go faster you hit two huge tables the second almost impossible to clear so manualling along it is the best option, now the flow really gets its hat on, there are three tables linked up by berms all the way down, then you go round a second to last berm into a rhythem section which is best to doble up if you want to keep your speed, after this you get dropped into a berm which has the biggest gee factor you have ever felt, from here you go into a step up and pedal into another set of quads and then you have on fucking awesome track.
