Likes:
Her Car - Izumi isn't materialistic, really! (Well, maybe a bit) She just loves her car as if it were her child. After all, it's what gets her to and from work, and it gives her a sense of importance and independence, like she's in control of her own destiny. Thus, she washes it three times a week, gives it the best fuel that yen can buy, and changes the oil and filter monthly. In fact, without it in the Universe, she is feeling a tad more vulnerable than usual (though, since it's Izumi, that's really not saying much).
Offices - Ah…the smell of Xerox machines in the morning! The office (specifically, the marketing firm where Izumi works as a personal assistant) is Izumi's playground. This is one of the few places where Izumi feels comfortable and confident in her abilities, because her talents are confirmed in a tangible way (raises, promotions, compliments, etc.). Here, work is very much an attainable thing (e.g. there's not much ingenuity involved in sorting papers and following orders), so Izumi is comfortable, and feels that she's being productive and helpful (and therefore, she feels she is loved).
Bad Slash Fiction - Oh Hiro-chan, why do you shun Duo after you have had such a passionate love affair? Yes, Izumi asks herself these questions…in her sleep. The fact that Izumi loves yaoi anything probably says a lot about all of her boy-issues and emotional avoidance problems, but what does she care? They're men who are sexualized in a way that is completely isolated from her (sex is not professional!), and more importantly, the passion is just UNBEARABLY INTENSE (says Izumi). There's probably a lot to be said about this in regards to her lack of subtlety…I'm sorry. I'm so very sorry.
Filtered Water - She can take this water with her? Really? And it is completely, 100% purified, with no added preservatives or contaminations that may cause a blemish to appear on her face before that important interview she has? But it will keep her hydrated all day? This is perfect, and ever-so convenient. Since Izumi's life is constantly on-the-go (something she herself seems to both find stressful and yet enjoy), water that is filtered or purified - be it bottled or from her own (filtered) sink - is extremely helpful to keep her brain functioning. Yes, she has one of those hideously large water bottles that you see athletes and vocalists carrying around, and she is entirely unashamed.
Popular/Cool Boys - Please don't ask her why, but Izumi finds herself falling for boys who are socially successful. They represent an ideal she can't seem to achieve - popular. Ever the perfectionist, Izumi wishes she could be as loved as these popular boys, and frankly, part of the reason she likes them is probably because a relationship with them might mean attaining this universal love that she craves. So, popular boys, please excuse her awkward love letters and uncomfortable stares of admiration - she just wants you to love her!
Random likes: Good parking spaces, anything Hiro/Duo, coffee (only with a
heapin' helpin' of soy milk and any flavored syrup),
Dislikes:
Misora - Sorry, Misora, but Izumi's
inferiority complex just doesn't mesh at all with being around you. Misora is everything Izumi both despises and
wishes she could be; completely against the norm (lesbians are NOT
professional!), self-confident almost to the point of arrogance, extremely
successful at what she does, and popular as well as in love. Every time Misora is even mentioned, Izumi
just caves in a bit, and the tiniest hint of a tear can be seen in her eye (on
a bad day, Izumi might just burst into self-pitying tears). When Misora is around, Izumi tries
desperately to prove herself as good as, if not better than, the other girl,
but of course, she is completely transparent.
Anything Misora volunteers to do, Izumi will volunteer to do in spades;
if Misora runs five laps, Izumi will push herself to run five and half (and
then probably collapse). This proves
particularly conflicting when Misora acts as second-in-command, because Izumi
is forced to obey the person that makes her the most insecure (although she'll
probably obey Misora solely to prove that she really wants Misora's favor and
totally doesn't dislike her at all, despite all evidence pointing to the
contrary).
Being Comforted - When Izumi is
close to breaking down, comforting her is simply a bad idea. In her eyes, only the weak need comfort, and
if someone thinks she needs comfort, clearly she is being too weak and she
needs to be stronger. Of course, this
idea that Izumi is weak only leads to Izumi feeling more insecure which causes
her to break down that much faster.
Really, the best thing to do when Izumi is on the verge of tears is to
just let her cry and THEN comfort her (or ignore her - she'll wind down soon). Comfort when she's trying to stay collected
is just like telling Izumi "You SHOULD cry, you baby!" - at least,
that's how it sounds to her.
Hot Showers - This mainly has to do
with the fact that Izumi showers in the morning. Cold showers help get her in the mood to
work, probably because they're more painful than hot showers. This probably says a lot about her need to suppress
her desires (i.e. her desire to be emotional).
In any case, hot showers are just USELESS to her, and much like being
comforted, make her feel weak. She needs
to make life harder on herself, or she'll feel like she isn't working hard
enough.
J-pop Idols - Specifically, female
J-pop idols make Izumi all kinds of insecure, though in a different way than
say, Misora does. While they do make her
feel ugly and untalented (they get farther than her by "singing" and
acting "cute"), more importantly, Izumi simply feels that they don’t
work as hard as she does, and therefore don't deserve the success they've
achieved. True, they may not make life
harder on themselves like Izumi does to herself, but that's hardly not working
as hard. Try explaining that to Izumi,
though, and you'll get a lecture on how much harder her life is than theirs
(probably followed by some sob fests).
Random dislikes: American food,
non-mechanical pencils, rain (it gets her off-schedule!), the smell of cleaner
fluids, clubs, video games, children (she still gets the occasional snide
racist comment from ignorant children)
Hobbies:
Planning - We're going to the
zoo? We need an itinerary! We're going on a walk? We need to plan exactly where we'll end up,
and how long it will take us! We're
going to the BATHROOM? Okay, exactly how
long will it take us, and which bathroom will we use? Yes, Izumi is micro-managing (though she's
perfected the art to the point where she can do it out of habit, quickly, and
non-verbally). The funny part about this
is, Izumi thinks that by planning her life this much, she's making things
easier on herself. These plans extend to
both short-term and long-term goals, though.
The long-term goal planning is probably more realistic, but the
short-term planning is actually damaging to her because she's causing herself
lots of unneeded stress. You'd think
this would cause her a lot of mental breakdown when things go awry, but here's
the thing; Izumi is so good at this that she actually is able to plan on the
SPOT when things go bad. It makes her a
great ally in battle, but a terrible person to have around at leisure
activities. Vacations with Izumi would
be terrifying.
Debate - Ah, the attention, the
thrill of debate - it's what Izumi lives for!
This is where she feels she shines the most, and she is able to prove to
the world how useful she is here. She
doesn't realize that although her rhetoric is good, her execution usually
leaves something to be desired (it's often either too flat or too dramatic, so
it never comes off as sincere). Still,
she clearly works hard at this - she puts her all into it, and those who are
close to her know this. It makes her
feel vindicated to be able to engage someone in an environment where nothing is
threatened - whether you win or lose, everyone is still in it for fun, and no
one wants to hurt anyone else (she likes to believe).
Driving - This is actually how Izumi
relieves herself of stress. While
driving, she is able to forget her worries, put on whatever music she likes at
the moment (usually Gackt or something similar), and simply enjoy being on the
road and in her (adorable) car. In the
car, most would be surprised to find that Izumi seems to be almost a completely
different person - she talks as if she isn't trying to impress you (which she
isn't - she's keeping her eyes on the road), and she's generally more
pleasant. Funny thing - she also gives
great advice while driving. The only
time this changes in the car is in traffic jams, or when she is late. And, of course, the minute she steps out of
the vehicle again, it's back into the world of business!
Goals: Izumi would love to start her own business - this is her main
goal at the moment. She hasn't quite
decided what yet, but she thinks she'd like to go into a business that helps
immigrants become acclimated into Japanese society - a non-profit sort of
deal. There are a million short-term
goals I'm not mentioning in that, such as "get an interview with the head
CEO of Japan" or "get a mentorship with the leading non-profit
business in
On a more personal note, Izumi would like to get along more with her fellow Negaverse Senshi. She doesn't understand why she can't relate to them (probably because she's older and standoffish), but she really just wants them to like her and approve of her. She'd also like to be able to stand up to her father one day, and tell him how much damage he did to her, but she needs to get out of her shell before she can do that (a fact she doesn't realize).
Good Points:
Goal-Oriented - Say what you will about Izumi, but the girl is focused. Give her a job to do, and not only will she get it done, she'll also have enough time left to do the job you were about to ask her to do after that, and get it all done more efficiently than even your own expectations (like Anne Hathaway in The Devil Wears Prada!). She is able to plunge herself head-first into a task, as long as the task you give her is clear enough (don't just tell her to "do better at life" - this will just warrant confused babbling, followed by a break down). Truth be told, she's probably a bit too focused on her goals, but at least she gets them done.
Book Smart - Need to know how many people in the world with B-type blood prefer Pepsi over Coca-Cola? Izumi will spout it out. Wondering what the likelihood is that a baby who plays with a rattle will develop a malignant brain tumor? Izumi is your girl. She has a ridiculously immense capacity for seemingly useless facts, but such facts can be useful given the right situation. Who knows? Being able to recite the angles at which a lever device will be able to lift a certain weight may get you out of a trap one day!
Polite - Izumi may come off as a tad stiff, but her mannerisms certainly fit her right in to Japanese society. You'll never see this girl forget to thank someone - her father practically beat manners into her at an early age, and she tries very hard to fit into her society by acting in its manners. In fact, this good point may also hint at a deeper flaw; she tries so hard to fit in that she actually is almost *too* polite, even for the Japanese. She can come off as cold, but it's clear that she cares enough about what you think to be polite to you.
Eager to Please - As detached as she seems, Izumi really just wants to be your everything. She runs extra laps to please Akemi, applauds extra loudly for Kohaku's singing, etc. While this may lead to some thinking of her as a kiss-ass, at the end of the day, Izumi wants to fit in. She wants to be loved, and she wants it in the most generous way. It's obvious that she wants to make those around her happy, to earn their approval.
Flaws:
Emotionally Awkward - It's not that Izumi doesn't have emotion - to be sure, when you get to know her, it's apparent that she's actually rather emotional. It's just that Izumi has absolutely no idea how to properly express her emotions in a socially acceptable way. Her love letters read like business letters, her hugs feel like porcelain arms, and her facial expression is set to cruise control, cruise control being a sort of moderately cheerful yet detached look (think Luna Lovegood minus some of the happiness).
Emotional Roller Coaster - Still, I cannot stress enough that Izumi indeed has emotions that are actually quite visible. When things don't go her way and something triggers her emotions (that boy she likes rejected her love letter, a friend can't spend the time to talk something out with her, she doesn't get a job, etc.), Izumi just loses it. She loses it so bad. Crying? Think sobbing uncontrollably to the point of hysteria and near-suffocation. She'll flail and rant constantly about how hard she works and how she doesn't deserve it (and, on bad days, how that whore *insert randomly chosen Negaverse Senshi here* deserves it), etc. etc. This is just confusing and bad for everyone, because how do you comfort a girl who five minutes ago didn't seem the least bit flustered that her friend's mother died? Izumi is the picture of someone who tries desperately to hide her emotions but simply cannot.
Unsubtle - This fits well with Izumi's knack for emotional breakdowns. Izumi has absolutely no sense of subtlety whatsoever (unlike Anne Hathaway in The Devil Wears Prada!). If she were American, she would be obsessed with Phantom of the Opera, Clay Aiken, and every chick flick in the world, but instead she's Japanese, so she likes yaoi doujinshi, visual kei, and bad game shows. Just like everything else in her life, Izumi strives so hard to compensate for herself that she becomes a walking mass of excess. Speech becomes tirade, advice becomes insult ("Kohaku, are you aware that you are a bit overweight?"), and car ride becomes disaster waiting to happen. She really isn't aware of how horribly excessive she is, so this problem never really goes away.
Left-Brain Overload - The Left Brain, the part that handles logic, anything verbal, mathematical, etc. is probably the only part of a brain that Izumi has. Her Right Brain, the creative thinking side, the side that is capable of looking at details to figure out the bigger picture, is completely neglected. This leaves Izumi incapable of thinking creatively or flexibly at all. She relies solely on logic and intellect, and while this can be useful, it also leaves her completely helpless in any leadership position (ironic, considering her ambitions). This can be best illustrated in how she handles debate; her argument is well thought-out and very logical, but her lack of grace with rhetoric and theatrics leaves her completely unable to persuade her audience.
Personality:
Overview
Izumi is, to put it simply, awkward beyond belief. However, she's not awkward merely as a result of her lack of social skills; she's mainly awkward because of a much deeper problem. Because of the detached, distant way her father treated (and still treats) her, Izumi has developed this dilemma of not knowing what to do at all with her emotions. Growing up in an environment where everything was monitored, she feels that she must do something with them, so she tries desperately to hide them from people. However, this doesn't fit at all with the drama queen just waiting to burst out of her, and so it ends up in Izumi the ice queen followed by Izumi the sobbing angst-fest. She's truly conflicted and confused about how to be, and she's so caught up in that that she never actually *is* anything beyond a desperate attempt at self-control.
Self-Image
Everything about Izumi screams insecure, despite all her efforts to make
appearances to the contrary. Being half-American
in Japanese society has her feeling naked every day of her life, which
conflicts dreadfully with
Motives
Izumi is torn between wanting to be just normal like everyone else, and wanting
to be extremely successful, the best.
She is constantly trying to adapt to social life, making adjustments
here and there in her personality (although they're never incredibly visible

Character Interaction
Around those she is meeting for the first time, Izumi is painfully formal. She views all of her first-time meetings as job interviews; first impressions are important, and will prevent others from making judgments on her (Izumi is especially concerned about judgments on her race). Firm handshakes, excruciatingly polite introductions, and a cold, stiff demeanor can all be expected from Izumi. Even around her personal friends, she retains some of this stiffness, though we'll get to that later. Izumi is rather evasive of conversation with people she is first meeting, unless that conversation is small talk. Izumi lives for small talk; it's the perfect way to show someone you care about talking with them without actually risking hitting a sensitive topic or saying something remarkably stupid or blunt. In fact, it's difficult to get her to open up when first meeting her; the only way to really get her to step out of her safety zone is to somehow assure her everything is safe and you really do like her, really! Flattery will get you everywhere with Izumi; it makes her feel comfortable around you, and it's probably the most effective way to do so. Telling her, "Look, we probably won't ever meet again, so who cares if you're impolite? Don't worry" is, sure enough, the first way to get her to worry; it makes her think you must not want to meet her again.
Long story short, Izumi is way, way too cautious around people, because she's afraid they must be judging her constantly.
Personal Interaction
With closer friends (re: all of the Negaverse Senshi, esp. the Inners), Izumi is a bit more open, but still with the visage of formality. In Izumi's eyes, these people have accepted her, so there is less risk of judgment or offense (though the formality remains, just in case). This is what causes her to say more blunt things to her friends; she actually thinks she is helping people by offering them her (obvious, slightly insulting) "advice." She wants to help her friends, because she thinks it will earn her their acceptance. Of course, when you offer this kind of advice to Izumi, she is upset, to say the least (she is COMPLETELY INCAPABLE of receiving criticism), and gets worried (and eventually, emotional) that you must not like her. She is a total hypocrite in this matter, but that's what happens when she tries so hard to please people (which is basically all the time). Still, she will do whatever it takes to earn her friends' trust, from jogging (excessively) for Akemi to buying Kohaku a (rather oversized) dress.
Quick overview of her feelings on the Inners, go! Although she sort of hates it that Akemi is successful despite her clear lack of talent, she respects how much effort Akemi clearly puts in to being the leader of the senshi, and will generally do whatever she says in a heartbeat in an attempt to be more "successful" in her leader's eyes. Still, this respect will not keep Izumi from making some pretty horrible accusations at Akemi in one of her fits ("You don't know how hard it is - you're famous and you can't even SING and your hair is UGLY!"). As for Moon, Izumi likes her in a sort of self-hating way. Moon's popularity with others does absolutely nothing good for Izumi's self-esteem; truth be told, although Izumi really wants to like Moon, when she's around her Izumi finds it hard to really interact with anyone. She thinks that uttering a word when around Moon will just make her own lack of popularity even more painfully obvious, so she is usually a touch quieter around Moon. Though she hates to admit it to herself, a small, horrible part of her was relieved that Moon died; it's a break from competing with her. Izumi was sad that Moon died, don't get me wrong, but the fact that a tiny piece of her was a little happy makes her even more torn up over the death than she would otherwise be.
When alone, Izumi is at her best, because she isn't trying to impress anyone. Instead, she is able to work efficiently, especially under pressure. The girl THRIVES under pressure, because she puts so much pressure on herself normally that high-pressure situations just feel…well, normal. In fact, when alone, she usually does her best to find something productive to do - she's a workaholic to the Nth degree. She'll train, or work extra hours, or work at home, etc. To her, "productive" means actively, physically doing something - it's not enough to think about it, you must do it.
Well, no one ever called the girl "lazy"…
Appearance:
Face: Luckily for Izumi, her skin tone is rather close to the
average Japanese tone, so although she is obviously not typically Japanese, she
fits in more easily with Japanese culture than if she were pale. Her face is heart-shaped, and has such
features as large, dark brown eyes framed by thick lashes, a slightly
broader-than-average nose, and thin lips that are almost always pursed in a
sort of uncomfortable smile. Her ears
are a tad larger than most Japanese girls', but she usually hides them behind
her…
Hair: Fine, shoulder-length, and midnight purple (i.e. dangerously close
to black), Izumi's hair is almost always styled in a low ponytail in the back,
with her bangs parting and coming just above her left eye. Usually, she wears her hair so that it
partially conceals her large ears.
Incidentally, she inherited her hair from her Japanese father. The style can best be seen in this picture:

Build: Izumi is about average height for women in
Voice: Izumi's voice is a squeaky, somewhat nasal soubrette
soprano. If she were more confident, she
would sound saucy when she speaks, but instead she sounds like a business
version of Karen from "Will and Grace." Her voice can be cute, but is mostly
irritating - it has a certain soft bite to it that, say, Chichi's doesn't.
Clothing: One word: business.
Izumi seems always ready for an interview - her face is constantly
powdered with just the right amount of make-up, and she is always in a modest,
dark-colored mini-skirt with professional, black heels and light hose
(switching to sailor fuku was NO PROBLEM for this girl). If not in a mini-skirt, Izumi will wear the
most effeminate pin-striped business suit she can find (she is not a rezubiian,
Misora-sama). She always accessorizes
with small studs in each ear and pearl necklaces. Job application, here Izumi comes!
History:
In 146 A.D., Izumi's parents met, and fell in love almost immediately. Izumi's mother, an assertive but nevertheless
loving American journalist, met her father, a stern but open-minded Japanese lawyer,
when Izumi's mother was in
By 147 A.D., Izumi was born, and somehow, in her eyes, her parents could already see problems with the family. Both parents suddenly realized on that day just how hasty their marriage had been. They were both caught up in the moment, and both completely ignorant of the repercussions of their actions. Now, they realized how hard it would be to find a compromise for their daughter between American and Japanese culture; in either country, she would be an outsider.
To make matters worse, both parents took decidedly different approaches to
this problem. For the first six years of
her life, Izumi was raised by her mother while her father was busy with work. During these six years, Izumi's mother taught
her daughter the philosophy that, since Izumi was destined to be different in
the world of
This upbringing caused Izumi to go through her first year of grade school as a loud, rambunctious, proud-to-be-different menace that misbehaved and then retorted saucily to her teachers' reprimands that she was "just different." Needless to say, when her Japanese father heard news of this, he was none too pleased. Upon discovering that his wife had been responsible for instilling this attitude into his daughter, Izumi's father was furious and promptly filed for divorce from his wife when his daughter was seven.
Of course, this had been coming, but Izumi didn't believe either of her parents when they tried to assure her that the divorce wasn't her fault (after all, her mother's teachings had led her into trouble - why should she believe either of her parents?). Instead, she placed the blame entirely on her own misbehavior in school.
Thus began the longest guilt trip in the Negaverse.
Since that day, Izumi began acting more and more in accordance to society's norms, especially because her father (who had won the custody battle, as he knew more about Japanese divorce law) began disciplining her to conform more to Japanese culture. Usually, this disciplining came in the form of ignoring her when she purposefully acted different, but sometimes even included such emotional abuses as "Everyone will hate you if you show off your difference!"
This kind of abuse, while not frequent enough to cause trauma in Izumi, certainly left her feeling bruised and paranoid, constantly worrying that everyone around her must hate her. As a result, she developed a complex of constantly wanting to control herself, particularly her emotions. Wanting so badly to conform like her father demanded of her, she assumed that "conformity" meant strict control of herself, so that she matched everyone else. Since she was (presumably) so different from everyone else, she felt the only way to be similar to others was through self-control.
Her father only encouraged this attitude, rewarding her when she expressed herself less freely (i.e. talked less), and punishing her if she ever acted out. While this may have taught her discipline, it also taught her that this kind of emotional control was right. Despite this, Izumi was still an emotional child.
This was partially because of her interactions with her mother. Although her visits with her mother were rare
(her father tried his best to keep her from her mother as much as possible, but
Izumi's pleading combined with her mother's pressure on the father caused him
to allow Izumi an occasional visit), when she did see her mother, she was
advised to be wary of racism. Her mother
held this paranoia of racism because, after living in
In other words, Izumi's mother passed her own fear of racism onto her child, leading Izumi to be even more paranoid.
Well, life continued on, with Izumi holding in all of these fears because
she was afraid that expressing them would cause her to be non-conformist, and
therefore to be hated. Her father showed
her love in small ways, like supporting her participation in extracurricular
activities (being part of a group is always good for conformity!). Eventually, Izumi was so focused on
conformity that she became a rather hard-working student, and not only did well
enough in school to enter high school, but also made it into the privately
owned
Of course, this made her father most pleased, and he encouraged her to become even more involved in extracurricular activities. Up until this point, Izumi had only been part of cultural clubs in her schools, but her desire to be successful (instilled in her by her mother) led her to want to join her school's debate club. Her father was at first worried that this sort of activity would lead her away from the path of conformity, but eventually he agreed to allow it after she pleaded with him.
Given Izumi's diligent nature and desire to succeed, it wasn't surprising that she soon became the best on her debate team, and was almost always chosen for competitions with other schools. Although sometimes her arguing was a bit extravagant, her logic was almost always clear and difficult to disagree with. Her talents in debate club were recognized throughout the school, and Izumi truly felt, for once in her life, that she belonged and was successful.
Still, there were of course the children that talked behind Izumi's back, and even made occasional racist comments about her, especially if she succeeded at anything. This hurt Izumi, but more importantly, it made her paranoia ever worse. Torn between her desire to have everyone like her and her desire to be successful, Izumi became a walking mass of contradiction; she tried her best to be amicable while still being ambitious, which came off (and still comes off) as stiff and slightly patronizing, and she would also break down regularly in front of people due to all the stress she put on herself. Nervous break downs happened once a week and she lost control of her emotions daily in front of peers. All this only led her peers to talk even more behind her back ("Americans are such drama queens!"), which of course perpetuated the vicious cycle.
Flash forward to July, 166. Izumi was now 18, and was frantically applying to colleges (she wanted to get a head start and apply for the very next semester of college, even though the actual school year started in April). On her birthday, what else should happen but Izumi is introduced to *even more stress* in a dream. As she slept that night (after receiving the lovely gift of a car from her father), Izumi saw herself staring into a pool of water, although random words seemed to be reflected in the water - words that represented bits of knowledge she'd accrued throughout her life (everything from 2 + 2 = 4 to speeches she'd memorized for debate). However, she saw herself reflected in sailor fuku, dressed similarly to Sailor Senshi she'd heard of but never met.
The meaning of this dream was fairly obvious, and when Izumi woke up, she wasn't very surprised to find a henshin pen next to her, as well as an aqua chain watch. Izumi easily figured things out, and began training as a senshi on her own, already in "I need to be the best!" mode. Before the end of the month, she'd met the other senshi, and was working together with them to stop Metallia.
Long story short, while Izumi certainly had her rough patches in becoming
acclimated to her fellow senshi (especially Misora), she's grown to love them,
and sincerely hopes that they love her back, even if she doesn't know how to
show them how much they mean to her.
When she discovered that they needed to leave to the other Universe, to
be honest, she was kind of pleased; somewhere deep in her heart she hoped that
the
However, she never expected to need them…
Current Situation: Luckily, Izumi was prepared for the worst, and brought enough money to rent an apartment in the middle-class area of Juban. Given her knowledge of the business world, she quickly found a job as a secretary working for a local marketing firm. Still, she's feeling more than a little guilty that she actually looked forward to this new world…though she's probably one of the only Negaverse Senshi who still holds optimistic feelings toward this Universe.
Clearly, she hasn't met the Crisis Senshi yet…

is - that isn't there for Mercury, she's cooler than that)
Skirt: Aqua, comes down to about mid-thigh.
Back Bow: Wheat
Shoes: These (http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/31440836/c/3.html)
in aqua, with wheat buckle and wheat zippers on each side.
Accessories: While Izumi has brown
eyes, Sailor Mercury wears dark blue contacts that allow her to scan her
enemies for weak points and to scan the area for structure (similar to canon
Mercury's computer and scanner). She
also wears an aqua chain watch on her left wrist to allow her to scan the area
for enemy presence or to scan nearby objects.
In addition, she wears an aqua scarf around her neck, just between her
choker and her collar; the scarf is only about a foot long when extended, and
reaches midway down her collar.
Attacks
Name: Deluge Fantasia
Effect: This attack is absolutely nothing like its name. Mercury calls "Deluge," and as she
does so, droplets of water spiral up her right arm and she raises it into the
air. Once the droplets reach her hand,
her left hand comes up to meet it (both hands now over her head), and the
droplets splash together to become a mini-whirlpool around her hands. Mercury starts to spin, and as she does so,
the whirlpool surrounds the rest of her body.
Finally, she tosses both hands out toward her opponent, and wraps her
arms around her body (one arm around the front, the other around the back).
Whoever is covered in this splash suddenly feels that they are looking at the
world as if it were underwater. It's the
same view one sees when one is above water, looking into the water at whatever
may lie beneath the surface. In other
words, everything in the target's field of vision becomes distorted and
somewhat blurry.
Restrictions: This attack uses up fairly little energy, but its effect
is also rather mild. Upon overcoming the
initial sense of shock (and possibly vertigo), the target will probably be able
to act as if their vision was completely uninhibited. As a result, Mercury can use this attack four
times in a battle (30 seconds per time), but of course, it loses its potency if
the opponent has felt it before. The
attack can also only be used on one person at a time. It's really meant to be more of a distraction
than an obstacle for opponents to overcome.
Name: Blue Info Rain
Effect: Sailor Mercury simply calls out the attack and points at her
opponent (usually accompanied with some flashy poses). Once an opponent is targeted by this attack,
a rain cloud appears above their head, and it begins to rain lightly on
them. As the rain begins, the opponent
also feels facts entering their head, almost as if they were reading. However, if Mercury chooses to, she can make
the rain heavier, and the more it rains, the more information that will enter
the person's head. This information is
usually just simple facts (the percentage of people with cancer who can also
roll their tongue!), but the point of the attack is to overwhelm the opponent
with both knowledge and rain at the same time, almost like the opponent is
reading and suddenly feels lost in the text (only add the rain to it).
Restrictions: This attack is actually fairly draining, depending on how
much Mercury decides to lay down the hurt on the opponent. If she chooses to keep the rain light, it's
not so bad, but heavier rain leaves her more exhausted. This is mainly because Mercury actually has
to think up the facts that enter her opponent's brain on her own immediately,
and thinking up that many facts so quickly can leave her mentally
exhausted. She can only use this attack
twice per day with light rain, and once per day with heavy rain. It can't really be blocked, but someone who
is able to take information in quickly would probably be able to deal with it
fairly easily. Note that I didn't say
someone who is smart - there's a very big distinction between someone who is
very receptive to information and someone who is intelligent.
Name: Splash Pressure Smash
Effect: Say hello to Mercury's only really offensive attack! She calls out "Splash Pressure!"
and touches her finger to her choker twice (like a double-click!). She then kneels down quickly, as if preparing
to run, and very quickly passes her hands over her shoes. Most opponents do not see that she actually
briefly touches the heels of each shoe.
Anyway, she then quickly leaps across the battlefield, running slightly
faster than usual, and stops at the other side.
She's actually laid bombs on the field with her shoes, and every time
she yells "Smash," one will go off, causing highly pressurized water
to sort of explode from the ground. This
looks like a giant geyser, but feels like being hit very hard by a hose at
close-range. The worst it can do is
bruise the attacker a bit, and maybe knock them off of their feet, but the
initial blow stings quite a bit.
Restrictions: This is Mercury's strongest attack, but since they're
bombs, they can't exactly be "used" in the traditional way - that is,
there's no way for her to really "aim" them at someone. She can only use three bombs per henshin, and
if she uses this attack, she sacrifices one of the uses on either one (but not
both) of her other attacks. The attack's
great strength lies in its sneakiness - even opponents who know what she's
doing will probably have a hard time locating exactly where the bombs are hidden. Still, even on her best days, it's impossible
for Mercury to know exactly where an opponent will land - who knows? She might end up using this attack in vain.
