August camping Trip.2007

Thankfully the weather stayed nice for us all while we were at Robin Hoods Bay.We arrived before everyone else and settled in nicely, apart from being put right next the facility block which ment it was noisy most of the time. One night some lunatic set off a fire work that nearly came through our tent, i was hopping to say the least.( the eye was well twitching). on the friday we walked down to robin hoods bay and spent a couple of hours on beach, sam tried to do a tekki kata on a pipe there and nearly fell in, (didnt stay on target). Luke went fishing for crabs and things.

Gordon and family were in the other field (much nicer), Mandy, Warren and Amy came along the next day and spent the day in whitby with us , which was really nice. We all had a good laugh, went along sands end and watched as the mad poeple of the group paddled in the sea, Josh Luke and Gordon.Karina and Amy had a few blonde moments which gave us all a laugh then we  retired to the tents for refreshments.Gordons wife was very kind and did us all sandwiches and drinks ,so we settled in for a night of ramdom chatter and talks of karate now and again and star wars thanks to sam and gordon.

Hopefully next year there will be more of us , but the few that were there had a great time.(photos to follow)

Camping trip 08

Glad to see some more poeple came this year. The families that went seemed to have a good time on the whole.

We where camping at Helmsley which wasnt far from Flamingo Land .We met up at Flamingo land with a couple of other families that didnt camp on the sunday morning. The weather wasnt to bad to start with but changed for the worse latter in day. Some of us stayed together and some went there own way, but we did still see most over the corse of the day,

Karina Amy and Gordon tried all day to get Sam on one of the rides but he was not falling for it.

There will be a live Band this year called spheres a local band that is doing very well for themselves, a raffel to help towards costs.Go onto the links page to have a listen to the band.

The team from jarrow and the trophies and medals.Twelve in total, fantastic guys keep it up.

One of the students got a placing in individual kata which they had not done before and seemed more impressed with that than winning the fighting. have more confidence young padawan.

We have been back for another comp at Jarrow and did even better than last time with everyone getting a least one trophy.

Wolverhampton.

This was a really long day for all. There where 600( the world cup in Italy only had 900) competors and all where at a very high level, most catorgaries had 50 or more in them so getting trophy was long and hard. Jamie and miss cullen went through and got first and third in kata, Mandy (mum) was up next got through two rounds all did well for there first competition. Josh, Alex, Zak, Emma, Dale, Megan all did there best kata to date and got through a couple of rounds not letting us down at all ,from what i saw a couple where only beaten by a whisker as i couldnt have split the two competitors, for myself and sam we thought they had done the best kata for a long time. Well done to all. The fighting was hard and long josh and Zak making it through four rounds to be knocked out just before the medals. Dale came across some fighter he thought he would not do well against but came away with a bronze, (have more confidence)

Some of the team that went to wolverhampton, Jamie and miss cullen with there medals and trophy Dale not in photo with his.

Going into more events these students should try and have more confidence in them selves, if you knock yourself before you start you have lost half the battle to start with, go in confident. We where all proud of you as this was one of the hardest competitions in a long time.

2003

The club has done really well, in our 'come back' year entering competitions. At  The Teeside championships we came away with two 1st places, one 2nd place and three 3rds.  Considering we only took 5 students I think we did exceptionally well.  Well done to all who went, keep up the good work!

Dale Ventura, 1st Black belt kata, 1st kumite.

Yasmin , 2nd Kata, 3rd team kata

Vicky , 3rd Kata, 3rd team kata

Shannon 3rd team kata.

For most of the students this was their first outing and it shows they have great potential.

T.A.S.K Championships held on the 4th February, again we did well, Dale Ventura  1st kumite 15 to 17 year olds. The fighting was tough, but he held on. 3rd Kata.  Yasmin went up one and got 3rd in the kumite, she was against some much bigger kids than herself but did really well.  The other students didn't let us down either, they all did their best but came up against some tough opposition.  They were Alan, Vicky and  Megan  who fought so well but out with a bad technicality, Shannon performed her kata better than I've seen her do, but unfortunately came across a higher grade this time, and Terri who showed true grit by doing a good kata when she was so nervous.  Well done to all..

2005

World Championships. Italy, Viareggio, Pisa. Anyone interested get in touch with me.  We are taking a few hand picked students to Italy .

We are back from Italy (just!) Long delays at both ends flying. When we arrived it was a bit of a scramble to find all of our hotels. Settled in, then out for food. We joined up with rest of the squad and we all had a good night. Wednesday, we weighed in (well most of us did I didn't have too as I was doing only kata, but I would have like to have seen them try and put me on the scales!!!). The rest of the days where long, sometimes starting at 8am and not getting away until 11pm. Dale and Sam fought well coming against the winners in each of their  fights, both are well after a couple of bad injuries! Dale even needed a trip to the local hospital. Each of our competitors where in five categories each, so the heat was on. Alan fought well too, and came away with two medals. One for kata and one for Kumite (fighting).  I was awarded a silver medal for kata.  We met a lot of nice people from all over the world and made some good friends.

At the recent Sunderland free style open we took two students, Dale and C. Lewis, they both did very well and came home with four trophies, Dale 2nd, 3rd and 2nd team fighting, C. lewis, in her first competition, got a 2nd. Very well done.

At the recent competition on the 3rd February in Stockton we did well again. Coming home with six trophys.

Results

Dale 2nd kumite and 3rd kata, Emma 3rd kumite, Megan 2nd kata, Alex 3rd kata and sara in her first comp 3rd in kumite, well done to everyone else who competed. Hope to see you all at the next competitions we are going to.

Birmingham International; The day started early (i was up at 3.30am) and finished late (didnt get in until 12 am next day). We took five students all did very well, we came home with a gold in kumite Emma morgan, well done to Megan, Bradly, Josh, and Alex for doing so well. More latter and photos.

Emma at the 2007 Birmingham international. Well done to all who went.

We have had a few students join us from another club lately, hopfully they are settling in and enjoying there training again.

At the recent penrith competition 2007 we came home with a few medals, including silvers, bronzes well done to all more about that from our reporter sam.

We are all going up to Jarrow to help raise funds for a lad who lost his leg through cancer. There will be around 21 instructors from different styles to teach on the day. Saturday the 14th April 1-5pm at Jarrow community centre Ne32 3jl. Please come along its only £5.
