Official Site -- Opening in February 2004

For the people out there who don't know you yet, could you tell us a little about you, like introduce yourself?
Hi everyone - my name is Bryan Chan and I'm currently working on my first solo album. You may know me from the group LMNT, our album All Sides is in stores now and our single "Juliet" is on Radio Disney's weekly countdown. We also toured last summer with Britney Spears, recorded for the Lizzie McGuire movie soundtrack, and our video "IT's Just You" from the Kim Possible soundtrack is in rotation on the Disney Channel.

What did you get for Christmas? Did you get everything you wanted?
I got a Tivo!! I am so excited, I have been asking for one of these for like 2 years. I'm a total TV junkie but I'm on the road so much that I never get to watch my favorite shows. Now I can record 80 hours of stuff and watch it whenever I get back home. Other then that I got some money and coal (my mom always puts it in our stockings for Christmas...she thinks it's so funny)

What are some of your New Years' Resolutions, if you have any?
I always say that I'm going to sleep less and wake up earlier in the morning. I say it but that's about as far as I go with that one...I'm not much for resolutions or getting up before 10.

What can fans expect from you this year? Can we soon expect a tour?
> Well I'm working hard and fast with some amazing producers and writers in Nashville but I don't know how soon I can expect to finish...I guess when everything feels right and it starts to fall into place. I want to go out and tour so bad but I've got to put my time in the studio first before I can get out and play...hopefully you won't have to wait too long.

Is the music you're currently working on the same or different from what fans are used to hearing from LMNT?
I would say it's a lot more soulful with a definite classic rock edge. Being on my own has been the most rewarding in regards to the music. It's hard when your in a group because we all loved such different styles of music, that was great in a way, but it also made it hard when trying to find songs that everyone liked. Now I can sit with a producer or a writer and just go for anything we want creatively, it's a pretty cool feeling, but weird at the same time.

Now that you're solo, are you considering doing any duets? Who would you love to do a duet with?
> I'd love to duet with Christina Aguilera. I think she has such an amazing voice...she'd be running all up and down my notes but I'd enjoy the experience just the same.

What made you want to pursue a solo career rather than getting back to a >normal life?
I've been writing a lot of music while we were on the road and I just felt that this was a good time to make some things happen for myself. The group experience has been amazing but it can also get stale ...we were doing it for over 3 years. This is a nice breather and a good way to give me fresh perspective.

What are you currently spinning in your CD player?
I have John Mayers latest CD Heavier Things. He is such a witty lyricist I love his music.

I read online that when you were little you wanted to be a marine biologist. Are you still interested in that field and will you ever pursue it?
I love animals especially dolphins and whales, but I don't think I could have ever done it, not at least the diving part. I'm scared of being in the ocean, which is such a lame thing to say since I grew up swimming competitively since I was 7. There's just something about being in the water and not being able to see past a certain point that freaks me out a little.

Lastly, do you have a shout-out or personal message for your fans?
You guys are amazing, from Making the Band to LMNT to my first solo album - I can't tell you how much your support means to me and how much it makes me work even harder to write great songs and get out on tour again. I hope you all had a great holiday and I wish you all the best in 2004. You can check out our site in February "bryanchanonline.com" to hear some snippets of the songs were working on right now. Take care - Bryan

Thanks so very much to Bryan for doing this interview! I've been a huge fan of LMNT since 2000 and am very happy to see each and every member doing something they love. Also, thank you to Brian Mayes for making the interview possible.
